The awards season hasn’t been that great for Joey King. Last week, she attended a Golden Globe after-party with a bump on her head after Patricia Arquette whacked her with her trophy. Then a week later, her dress’ zipper broke while heading to the Critics’ Choice Awards.

It was quite a journey for Joey King to get to the ceremony after suffering a wardrobe malfunction. On her way to the awards show, she broke her zipper and went to find a tailor for a quick fix.

A day after the ceremony, Joey posted a photo on her Instagram, showing herself getting sewn into her dress.

It was captioned: “Yesterday was the @criticschoice awards and this was me 10 minutes after I was supposed to be in the car on the way to the ceremony getting sewn into my dress by a very nice tailor at a men’s suit warehouse because my zipper broke (it was my fault) and he was the only person open on a Sunday. WOOHOO CRITICS CHOICE 😂”

The 20-year-old actress told ET that she went to a men’s fashion house to have her dress fixed.

“I went to a men’s fashion house for men 5’8″ and under, and it was the only place that was open.  So, I called and said, ‘Do you guys have a tailor on site?’ and they were like, ‘Yeah,’ so I walked in and they were like, ‘Are you going to prom? “I was like, ‘Hmm, something like that.’”

She wowed us in her stunning Iris van Herpen 3D dress at the Golden Globes last week. However, at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday, Joey King failed to impress in her head-to-toe Prada look.

Nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Television Movie, Joey King walked the blue carpet in a Prada metallic gown similar to an aluminum foil.

The crinkled silver tinfoil dress features a scoop neckline, shoulder ties, a flattering fitted bodice, and a structured ankle-length skirt.

It was less appealing than her Golden Globe dress, but Joey still managed to turn some heads.

It was, in fact, her sweet accessory that garnered more attention. With the ceremony’s fully vegan menu, Joey snuck in some sweet treats as she carried a purse full of Good & Plenty candy.

Using Urban Decay Cosmetics, makeup artist Allan Avendaño added a pop of color to Joey’s metallic look with green smoky eyeshadow. He also brushed her brows up and applied black eyeliner, mascara, nude lipstick, and subtle flush on her cheeks.

Hairstylist Dimitri Giannetos gave Joey an old Hollywood glamour look with a wavy bob hairstyle. Celebrity manicurist Thuy Nguyen complemented her metallic dress with futuristic nail tape with platinum grade top coating.

Joey accessorized with pearl teardrop earrings with emerald and turquoise accents and a pair of silver Prada mules.

Made of mirror-finish silver leather, these Prada mules feature an ultra-modern silhouette with pointed toes and about 4-inch sculpted heels.
