She later opened the show on stage with Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, and 15-time Grammy winner and host of the evening, Alicia Keys. They shared how music has changed their lives and how they’ve persevered despite others telling them they couldn’t succeed.
“Whether we like country or rap or rock, music helps us share ourselves: our dignity and sorrows, our hopes and joys. It allows us to hear one another, to invite each other in,” the former First Lady of the United States said.
