Rita Ora continues to surprise us with her choice of plasticky outerwear despite previous thoughts that she had moved past her PVC phase.

The fashion-forward singer has been seen wearing these eye-catching pieces several times, leaving us puzzled about her style direction.
First, a few weeks ago, Rita Ora showed up at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in a cropped plastic jacket worn over a pink bra, hiked-up white V-neck T-shirt, and patterned knee-length skirt.

Then, she was spotted with her friend, Cara Delevingne, wearing a similarly colored plastic trench.

This time, she wore the jacket over a textured white dress and detailed thigh-high white boots. The wealthy singer also toted a red Chanel ‘Lego’ clutch bag, a high-priced tribute to childhood nostalgia that made a surprising splash as a 2013 summer trend, resurrecting plastic as a luxury material.
It draws inspiration from the classic Danish building blocks, proving that whimsy can command a high fashion price tag and that playfulness has a place even in haute couture.

We can’t quite understand the appeal of plastic jackets on a clear day. While the PVC material is excellent for repelling rainwater in a downpour, we imagine it would be hot, sticky, and uncomfortable when worn as actual outerwear.
However, these translucent jackets allow the wearer to show off his or her outfit underneath, so maybe Rita is actually on to something.
