When Seth MacFarlane’s Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West premiered at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles on May 15, 2014, it marked a rare comedic turn for Charlize Theron.

Known for her transformative dramatic roles, Theron portrayed Anna Barnes-Leatherwood, the rebellious wife of an infamous outlaw played by Liam Neeson.

While the film became a moderate box-office success—grossing over $80 million worldwide—it is perhaps best remembered by style enthusiasts for Theron’s striking red-carpet appearances and a unique behind-the-scenes hair transformation.

Because she had recently shaved her head to play Imperator Furiosa in the 2015 action masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Road, Theron wore a meticulously styled wig throughout the filming of the Western.
