Kristen Stewart brought her signature mix of femininity and edge to the 51st Deauville American Film Festival, and of course, she did it in Chanel. Since becoming the face of the house in 2013, it has become almost impossible to picture her wearing anything else.

This time, the occasion was extra special. Stewart turned to the French luxury fashion house to celebrate her feature film directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, and her first big win as a filmmaker.

The Chronology of Water, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in May, is a biographical romantic drama based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir of the same name. It tells the story of a young swimmer, Lidia, who struggles with addiction and trauma, and finds solace and a sense of identity through writing.
Imogen Poots is bringing Yuknavitch’s story to life as she takes on the lead role. Set for a US theatrical release in December, the film won the Prix de la Revelation at the 51st Deauville American Film Festival, marking Stewart’s first major award as a director.

To celebrate the milestone, Stewart turned to Chanel, curating a series of striking looks that reflected her signature blend of edge and elegance. Let’s check them out.
Chanel Short Suit & Grosgrain Sandals: Kristen Stewart’s Darkly Ethereal Red Carpet Moment
At the closing ceremony of the 51st Deauville American Film Festival, Kristen Stewart cemented her status as the quintessential Chanel muse. She walked the red carpet in a monochromatic black look from the house’s Fall 2025 collection, striking the perfect balance between ethereal drama and crisp tailoring.
Her outfit was an unexpected twist on a classic suit. Instead of trousers or a skirt, Kristen wore a tailored short suit that featured a blazer and matching shorts, embroidered with Chanel’s interlocking logo. The subtle texture revealed itself under the lights, adding depth and richness to the ensemble.
The blazer had silver buttons, but Kristen daringly fastened only the top one, giving it a seductive peek-a-boo look. A satin bow adorned the rounded neckline, while matching bows were tied at the sleeves, from which sheer tulle cascaded dramatically, flowing gracefully down her arms.
The shorts featured the same tonal monogram embroidery and satin trim, but it was the floor-skimming see-through sheer overlay that defined the look. It floated behind Kristen as she walked, adding a sense of effortless movement and a dark, ethereal touch that softened the ensemble’s sharp tailoring.

Minimal Styling and Grosgrain Chanel Platform Sandals
Kristen kept her styling minimal, letting the intricate design of her outfit shine. Instead of layering on jewelry, she only wore Chanel’s Sous Le Signe Du Lion ring, which added just the right amount of edge and sparkle to the look.
Her blonde hair was pulled back into a sleek, wet-look bun, giving her appearance a fresh, modern edge. Her side-swept bangs, with a few loose strands falling over her forehead, had a slightly androgynous, almost masculine feel that complemented her cool, effortless vibe. For makeup, she stayed true to her signature look with a bold cat-eye liner and a clean, natural base.
On her feet, Kristen wore black grosgrain Chanel sandals that perfectly tied the look together. They featured peep toes and slim ankle straps that gave them a delicate, feminine edge, while the chunky platforms and sturdy block heels added structure and stability.
They weren’t flashy, but they balanced the drama of her outfit while staying true to Kristen’s effortless, cool-girl style.

Sequins, Minis & Platform Sandals: Kristen Stewart’s Rock-Inspired Chanel Style With Zoey Deutch
At the screening of Nouvelle Vague, starring Zoey Deutch, during the 51st Deauville American Film Festival, Kristen Stewart delivered yet another stunning Chanel moment, this time with a bolder, rock-inspired take on the house’s codes.
Instead of wearing Chanel’s classic tweed, Kristen opted for something edgier, which was exactly in line with her own rebellious elegance. Her layered black ensemble featured a cropped tank top with spaghetti straps peeking from underneath a sheer short-sleeved blouse. The blouse itself was detailed with pearl buttons down the center front and black sequinned trims around the neckline, hem, and sleeves, catching the light with every step.
Its matching mini skirt, though feminine in silhouette, carried that same rebellious twist, with silver-and-black sequins lending a rock-and-roll edge that toughened up the elegance.
Standing beside her, Zoey Deutch offered a striking counterpoint. Known for her love of bold colors, she surprised in an all-black Chanel Fall 2022 Couture strapless gown featuring a sheer, sparkly skirt and an open waistline adorned with a metallic bow.

Rock-Inspired Beauty, Statement Accessories, and Chanel Platform Sandals
Kristen consistently manages to turn Chanel into her own. While some might play it prim, she makes it unapologetically cool.
The American actress gave off a casual, just-off-the-beach vibe with her wet-look waves that fell loosely around her shoulders. Her natural green eyes were highlighted with heavy, smoky silver and blue eyeshadow, while a subtle flush on her cheeks and nude lips kept the makeup balanced.
Her accessories were minimal yet striking, keeping the attention on her outfit. Around her collarbone, she wore a chunky silver chain necklace that created a bold contrast against the delicate pearl buttons of her blouse. On her wrist, she added a Chanel Premiere Galon watch, first introduced in 1987, featuring an octagonal case inspired by the stopper of the No. 5 fragrance bottle and a bracelet interlaced with leather.
For 2025, the watch was reimagined with a gourmette chain bracelet in a braid motif. She completed her jewelry with a single Coco Crush ring in the Maison’s 18k beige gold, featuring the signature quilted matelassé texture for a refined touch of radiance.
Her footwear choice tied the outfit together with a polished edge. She wore the same black platform Chanel sandals designed with sturdy block heels and slim buckled ankle straps for a secure finish.
I love how the clean, structured lines of the sandals balanced the shimmer of the sequins, keeping the look modern and refined while maintaining that touch of attitude Kristen is known for.

Tweed Skirt Suit & Platform Pumps: Kristen Stewart’s Fresh Take on Chanel Photocall Chic
Earlier in the day, Kristen Stewart graced the photocall for The Chronology of Water, wearing a look that balanced casual ease with Chanel sophistication. This time, she embraced the house’s timeless codes of tweed and tailoring, but wore it with her signature nonchalant confidence.
Stewart stepped out in a white tweed set from the Spring/Summer 2025 Couture collection. On top, she wore a cropped fuzzy jacket with a subtle holographic finish, creating a soft pastel rainbow sheen. The jacket was detailed with reflective buttons for a playful yet polished touch, fastened only at the top for a hint of understated allure.
Kristen paired it with a high-waisted mini skirt, cut from the same tweed. It was pleated and ended above her thighs, showcasing her legs and softening the structured texture of the fabric.

Understated Accessories and Classic Chanel Platform Pumps
Stewart kept her accessories minimal, just as I had expected, wearing only a Chanel Coco Crush Small Ring in 18k white gold with a quilted motif that reflected the house’s timeless aesthetic.
Her hair was styled in a messy bun with her fringe framing her face, giving her an effortless, undone charm that felt perfect for the photocall’s more laid-back atmosphere. Her makeup remained natural, with a fresh, glowing complexion and soft, neutral touches that highlighted her striking features.
Stewart’s accessories balanced the look with a subtle contrast. She defined her waist with a slim black belt, adding structure while breaking up the ensemble’s all-white silhouette. This detail paired perfectly with her footwear, also by Chanel.
Kristen chose classic black lambskin platform pumps with glossy tonal patent cap toes, delicate ankle straps, and sturdy block heels.
At 5ft 3¾ (161.9 cm) and wearing a US shoe size 6.5, the elevated platforms not only gave her extra height and presence but also elongated her petite frame, adding a modern edge that contrasted beautifully with the classic tweed and holographic finish of the outfit.
