Amanda Seyfried, Elle Fanning, and Sofia Carson were clear standouts at the 2026 Astra Film Awards held at the Sofitel Beverly Hills Hotel.
The black carpet felt less about over-the-top fashion and more focused on clean, pared-back looks, with many stars leaning into minimalism this year.

It was also a big night for awards, with several major wins shaping the evening’s highlights. Sinners dominated with six wins, including Best Picture – Drama and Best Director, while One Battle After Another took home Best Picture – Comedy or Musical. Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor – Drama for Sinners, Jessie Buckley earned Best Actress – Drama for Hamnet, Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor – Comedy or Musical for Marty Supreme, and Amanda Seyfried picked up Best Actress – Comedy or Musical for The Testament of Ann Lee. Supporting wins went to Amy Madigan for Weapons and Ariana Grande for Wicked: For Good.

The most unexpected moment of the night? Indy the Dog won Best Performance in a Horror or Thriller, beating out big names like Alison Brie and Ethan Hawke. I don’t think anyone saw that coming!
On the fashion side, there weren’t many big surprises—if anything, what stood out was how low-key everything felt, with very few grand looks on the carpet. Amanda Seyfried, Elle Fanning, and Sofia Carson were among those who caught my eye, each in a silhouette that felt true to their personal style. Their shoe choices also stayed just as minimal and chic. Here’s a closer look at their outfits.
Sculptural Minimalism: Amanda Seyfried Grounds a Shushu/Tong Gown With Aquazzura Pumps
Amanda Seyfried, Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical winner, kept her red carpet look understated but still quietly striking in a black Shushu/Tong dress. Black is always a safe choice, and it looked beautiful against her fair complexion, but I wished she had gone for a hint of color. Against the dark backdrop, the dress blended in a bit too much.
True to the Shanghai-based label’s signature mix of femininity and edge, this wasn’t just another little black dress. It was crafted from a wool-and-silk twill blend, with a paneled construction that gave it style and structure.
The fitted bodice featured a halter-style square neckline, finished with a sculptural bow with soft ribbon-like folds. It cinched neatly at the waist before flowing into a full, voluminous skirt. Underneath, a tiered tulle layer helped the skirt hold its shape and added a hint of contrast at the hem, which I found really charming.
My only hesitation was the length. On Amanda, the dress fell closer to her ankles, and I couldn’t help but think it would’ve looked more flattering if it had hit mid-calf. A slightly shorter length would have balanced the volume and elongated her frame.

Seyfried kept her styling minimal, which suited the dress well. A simple pair of Tiffany & Co. diamond studs added just enough sparkle. Her hair was worn straight and sleek down her back, while her makeup stayed soft, with rosy blush and a nude peach lip.
For shoes, she slipped into the $865 black suede Aquazzura “Artiste” pumps. They may look classic at first glance, but the softly scalloped edges along the topline and vamp gave the shoes a decorative touch.
The pointed toe kept them sharp and elegant, while the slender stiletto heel added height and refinement.

Soft Blue Elegance: Elle Fanning Floats in Rodarte With Silver Aquazzura “So Nude” Heels
Elle Fanning didn’t win Best Supporting Actress, but she was still honored at the Astra Film Awards with the Vanguard Award. This honor is given to actors who have taken on a wide range of roles and shown a fearless approach to storytelling. And just as she does on screen, Fanning also knows how to tell a story through fashion.
At the ceremony, Elle wore a custom Rodarte gown in a soft bluish-gray. It felt fluid and timeless, echoing the many film and television roles she has brought to life over the years.
Crafted from silk, the dress draped beautifully over her slender frame, moving softly as she walked. The asymmetrical design featured a draped one-shoulder neckline with loose shoulder ties—one tied at the shoulder for a relaxed, sculptural detail, and the other tied off the shoulder, leaving her shoulder bare for a romantic, effortless finish.
A seam detail across the bodice helped define Elle’s waist, creating a naturally flattering silhouette. Just below the waist, the fabric fell into a soft, layered effect, adding dimension before falling into a long, flowing skirt. It skimmed her ankles and had loose, natural folds that kept the silhouette light and elegant.

What I loved most, though, was the color. This pale, powdery blue is rarely seen on the red carpet, and it looked stunning against Elle’s fair complexion.
Her makeup stayed soft with rosy blush and a matching lip, and her blonde hair was worn straight, parted to the side, and flowing down her back.
Elle kept her styling minimal, skipping both a necklace and earrings, which made sense given the draped neckline and shoulder ties. Still, part of me wished for tiny studs, just to add a hint of sparkle. Instead, she chose a single Cartier Broderie de Cartier ring to elevate her look.
Rather than relying on jewelry for shine, Elle let her shoes do the work. She slipped into metallic silver Aquazzura “So Nude” sandals, defined by their barely-there design and clean lines. The delicate strap across the toes and the slim slingback strap gave the shoes a light, weightless feel.
Set on 4-inch stiletto heels, they added height and just the right amount of shine. I loved how the silver finish echoed the cool tone of her dress, keeping the look cohesive and refined. You can get them in gold for $850 at Mytheresa.

Modern Power Dressing: Sofia Carson Sharpens Saint Laurent Tailoring With “Lee” Slingback Pumps
Sofia Carson skipped the expected gowns and instead took a sharp, modern route, wearing a Saint Laurent belted coat styled as a mini dress. The dark jade blue was striking and worked beautifully against her complexion, giving her a cool, polished presence on the carpet.
The $9,200 coat was crafted from silk, giving the clean, architectural design a smooth, subtle sheen. I loved the structured silhouette, from the padded shoulders to the high stand-up collar secured with snap buttons, which framed Sofia’s neck and gave the look a commanding edge.
The coat was slightly oversized, with softly sculpted bouffant sleeves and roomy pockets that added to its relaxed feel. The hemline hit above the knee, keeping the look crisp, modern, and far from heavy. This kind of silhouette isn’t easy to pull off, but Sofia handled it with ease.
The contrasting black self-tie belt was a smart addition, cinching her waist just enough to define her shape.

Carson’s styling stayed sleek. She wore her raven hair straight and parted down the middle, which partially hid her gold statement earrings. Even with just a glimpse, I loved how the warm gold played against the cool blue. Her makeup was understated, with sculpted brows, eyeliner, and neutral lips.
Sofia finished the look with Saint Laurent “Lee” slingback pumps in glossy black calf leather. The squared pointed toes and sharp, structured vamp mirrored the coat’s clean lines, while the elongated gold buckle at the slingback strap added a bold touch.
These pumps were finished with sculptural 4.3-inch gold heels, enhancing the modern, architectural feel of her outfit. You can find its maroon version at Saks Fifth Avenue, retailing for $1,200.
