Aubrey Plaza has expressed her interest to work on a bigger project with her deadpan twin Jenna Ortega after the two sent the star-studded audience into fits of laughter while presenting an award together at the 2023 SAG Awards.

As they took to the stage to hand Sam Elliott the gong for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series/Television Movie, The White Lotus star and the Wednesday lead showcased their iconic deadpan expressions for a few seconds.

Aubrey broke the awkward silence, saying, “I don’t know why they paired us up together.” To which Jenna agreed, “Yeah, I know, we have nothing in common.”

“We should find the people who did this,” Plaza continued before Ortega joined in, and they chanted in unison, “and curse their families and watch as misfortune follows their bloodline for the next seven generations.”

“Okay, I see it now,” Aubrey concluded in reference to why they were paired together.

Following the hilarious stint, viewers quickly complimented the two actresses on social media, with many suggesting that they collaborate on a movie.

“Oh, I’m down,” Plaza told Entertainment Tonight. We’ll just kill everybody with our eyes.”

Both Plaza and Ortega were nominated at this year’s SAG ceremony. The 38-year-old comedian and her White Lotus co-stars bagged the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award, while the 20-year-old actress was up for Best Performance by a Female Actress in a Comedy Series for Wednesday. The award later went to Jean Smart for her role in HBO Max’s Hacks.

The duo put their best fashion foot forward at the ceremony, with Plaza exposing an underboob and Ortega showcasing a hint of cleavage.

Setting temperatures rising, the Parks and Recreation star graced the red carpet at the Fairmont Century Plaza in a daring bronze Michael Kors Collection dress.

The custom stretch crepe creation featured a crisscross halter neckline with a huge midriff cutout exposing not just her abs but also her underboob. It was hand-embroidered with over 76,000 sequins and finished with a provocative thigh-high front slit.

Having worked with Aubrey Plaza for nearly 17 years, stylist Jessica Paster shared that she wanted something seductive and trendy for the actress.

“I have been working with Aubrey Plaza for almost 17 years, so when she got nominated, I wanted something sexy, current, and modern,” Paster told WWD. “I have worked with Michael [Kors] for many years, and he came up with something perfect for us. Anytime I explain to Michael what I want in a look he gets it exactly right, every time.”

“We were trying to encapsulate a modern ‘70s vibe. I loved the beautiful brown color of the dress and the sexy cutouts. It felt sexy but not overdone. Glamorous and chic,” Aubrey told Vogue of her look, which was accessorized with Mouawad jewelry.

She wore pieces from the “Joie de Vivre” suite that included a pair of earrings, a ring, and a bracelet, featuring “some of the world’s finest topaz and citrine stones set to a ravishing backdrop of white diamonds.”

Aubrey’s red carpet ensemble was finished with a Jimmy Choo clutch and Rupert Sandro metallic heels.

For her glam, makeup artist Kathy Jeung used Charlotte Tilbury makeup to give her a “bronzed goddess” makeup look, with “a sexy, smokey kohl-rimmed, bronzed eye” and a “radiant, glowing skin.”

Hairstylist Mark Townsend styled Plaza’s bob hair in voluminous curls with a deep side part to intensify the ‘70s aesthetic. He used hair products from Sol de Janeiro and tools from GHD.

Aubrey Plaza’s Controversial 2023 SAG Awards Dress

Plaza’s gown may have been the sexiest worn by a celebrity at the ceremony, but fans had different insights about it.

One user commented on Instagram, “the straps could be better adjusted, but I love the color, and hair and makeup look amazing.”

Stylist Jessica Paster quickly defended Plaza’s look, saying, “did 7 fittings… for real… I wanted underboob.”

Later that evening, fans noticed how annoyed Aubrey appeared on the stage while accepting the award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series with her co-stars.

Jon Gries could be seen whispering something into Aubrey’s ear as F. Murray Abraham was wrapping up the group’s speech. And as the rest of the cast applauded, Aubrey could be seen adjusting her dress and appearing to mouth “Jesus Christ” with a furious expression.

Jon Gries, who plays Tanya McQuoid-Hunt’s husband, Greg Hunt, in the HBO series, revealed what happened on stage and told Page Six that the actress was “just being funny.”

Gries instructed Plaza to “look to the front” since she was “being blocked by about 15 people.”

He also advised her that she “might want to fix that [her Michael Kors dress] first,” which was on the verge of showing her nipple.

Gries added that Plaza seemingly mouthed “Jesus Christ” after that because she was “just being funny.”

“I think what she was intimating is why would that be a problem if my nipple is showing. That’s her humor—she has that dry, deadpan wit; that’s her biting wit,” he explained.

Jenna Ortega in Versace

Jenna Ortega continues to prove she’s the scream queen of Gen Z not just with her roles in the slasher films X and Scream but also with her style.

For the 2023 SAG Awards, Jenna has once again channeled her darker side, wearing a vintage black strapless gown from the Gianni Versace Fall/Winter 1994 collection.

Wednesday Addams would approve of Ortega’s gothic-chic black ensemble, which was made of textured black patent leather and laminate silk twill.

It had a corseted bodice with an asymmetrical cleavage-baring low-cut neckline, as well as an asymmetrical skirt with pleated plissè soleil panels, a thigh-high slit, and a sweeping train.

The dress originally had a buckled shoulder strap, which Ortega converted into a waist-cinching belt.

Stylist Enrique Melendez created the look, which was accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

She wore a Schlumberger Platinum and Yellow Gold Diamond necklace, a pair of $18,000 Schlumberger Twenty Stone hoop earrings, a $69,000 Edge Multi-Row Bypass bracelet, a matching $5,500 Bypass ring, an $11,800 Schlumberger Sixteen Stone ring, and a $5,800 Schlumberger Rope Two-row ring.

Jenna completed her outfit with Jimmy Choo “Max” platform sandals, which added roughly 6 inches to her 5’1” height.

When it came to her glam, makeup artist Vincent Oquendo created a ‘70s-inspired pastel eye-makeup. He gave Ortega a radiant look with reverse smokey eyes with a hint of shimmering silver and gold and a white eyeshadow base.

He also applied black liquid eyeliner in the outer corner and a few Stiletto individual lashes, paired with bronzed flushed cheeks and beige rosy lips.

Meanwhile, hairstylist David Stanwell created a ‘90s effortless textured hairstyle with a middle parting and messy fringe.
