One Life: A Powerful Tale of Redemption and Heroism
The premiere marked the unveiling of the British biographical drama film One Life, which encapsulates the Jewish Talmud’s profound sentiment: “Whoever saves one life, saves the entire world,” capturing the emotional journey of a man haunted by the past and seeking redemption.
Set during the Holocaust, One Life tells the true story of Sir Nicholas “Nicky” Winton, a young London stockbroker and heroic figure who rescued 669 children in Czechoslovakia from the Nazis in the months leading up to World War II.
The narrative unfolds in two timelines – one in 1938, when Nicky embarks on his daring rescue mission, and the other in 1988, as he grapples with the guilt and grief of the children he couldn’t save.

Helena Bonham Carter takes on the role of Nicky’s mother, Babi Winton, a character of German-Jewish ancestry who settled in North West London with her husband.
The stellar cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Lena Olin, Romola Garai, and Alex Sharp, with Anthony Hopkins and Johnny Flynn portraying Nicholas Winton at different stages of his extraordinary life.
Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2023, and subsequently showcased at the 2023 London Film Festival, One Life is set for a theatrical release in the United Kingdom on January 1, 2024, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.
