Cardi B has been cleared of battery charges after the police dropped the investigation into the incident involving the rapper, citing insufficient evidence.

“After a thorough review of this case and with the consultation from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, this case has been closed as having insufficient evidence. No charges will be filed in relation to this case,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.

Cardi B’s lawyers confirmed the report saying, “As a result of their investigation, there will be NO charges against Cardi.”

“On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s diligent and prompt resolution of this matter,” they added.

The mic-throwing incident took place at Drai’s Nightclub in Las Vegas last weekend after an audience member tossed their iced drink at Cardi while she was in the midst of performing her hit single Bodak Yellow.

Prior to the incident, however, the second richest female rapper complained about the heat and encouraged her fans to splash her with water to cool her down, as revealed in raunchy footage posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Cardi then told the audience, “That s**t feels good, put that s**t in my p***y, b**ch, c’mon.”

Later, one fan doused Cardi not just with water but also ice. The rapper briefly paused before hurling her microphone back in the direction of the said fan in retaliation.

Afterward, the footwear designer, clad in a vibrant orange dress at the time, told the crowd, “I said splash my p***y, not my face b**ch,” before continuing the show.

Days after the incident went viral on social media, Las Vegas police said in a statement that a concertgoer had filed a police report alleging battery.

“According to the victim, she was attending an event on July 29, 2023, at a property located in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard.”

She then claimed she was “struck by an item that was thrown from the stage” and “experiencing pain because of the incident.”

While Cardi B was not named in the statement, the location of the alleged incident corresponds to the address of the venue where the rapper performed.

Offset’s wife did not issue a comment about the incident, but she did repost a video of herself throwing the mic.

Cardi B’s Thrown Mic Sold at Auction

The now infamous microphone, a Shure AD2 mic, was auctioned off for charity by Scott Fisher, owner of audio production company The Wave that supplied the equipment to Drai’s Nightclub.

“Shure Axient digital Mic Cardi B threw at a person. Auctioned for charity,” the listing reads.

The Trend of Throwing Objects at Artists on Stage

Cardi B becomes the latest artist to have to deal with concertgoers throwing objects on stage.

In June, Bebe Rexha needed several stitches after being struck in the head by a cellphone thrown at her face during a concert in New York City.

Last month, Harry Styles was hit in the eye by an unknown object thrown at him at his show in Vienna. That same month, Drake was hit by a cell phone thrown on stage by a fan.

Ava Max suffered a scratch after being slapped in the face by a stage crasher mid-performance, while Kelsea Ballerini was struck in the eye with a bracelet while performing in Idaho.

Throwing random things at artist on stage has been going on for years, but it now appears to be an alarming trend.

Adele addressed the issue during her Las Vegas residency last month, warning her fans about throwing things at her on stage.

“Have you noticed how people are like, forgetting f**king show etiquette at the moment? People just throwing shit on stage, have you seen them?”

“I f**king dare you. Dare you to throw something at me, and I’ll f**king kill you,” she joked.
