Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, are an enviable celebrity couple. It’s hard to believe they’ve been happily married for over a decade, considering Carrie wasn’t even interested in meeting her beau.

The Spark of Romance: Meeting Mike Fisher
Carrie Underwood met her husband, Mike Fisher, through a setup orchestrated by her bassist, Mark Childers.
When her bassist, Mark Childers, asked to set her up with a hockey player from Ottawa, she almost refused as she wasn’t sure if they would have much in common.
The pair met at a meet-and-greet after one of the country crooner’s concerts, where she recalls thinking he was “hot, hot, hot.”

Navigating a Long-Distance Relationship
Mike and Carrie started long-distance dating for the next few months while concentrating on their careers. A few months later, as the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve in Times Square, the couple shared a steamy first kiss in front of the entire city.
“We were in front of people, and he’s not a big PDA guy,” she told Glamour. “I figured, I’ll go in for it because he can’t leave me hanging, right? So I made him kiss me in public.”

From Engagement to Family Life
It must have been some kiss! Just a year later, Mike popped the question, and the pair started appearing together publicly at red carpet events. The couple became engaged on December 20, 2009.
Over a decade after their wedding on July 10, 2010, two sons and a horse later, the American Idol winner still thinks her husband is the hottest guy ever.
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have two children together. Their first son, Isaiah Michael Fisher, was born in February 2015. Their second son, Jacob Bryan Fisher, was born in January 2019.

Carrie’s Personal Insights: Home Life and Social Preferences
Despite her ability to entertain large audiences on stage, Carrie Underwood prefers being at home and feels nervous in crowds and group settings.
In an interview with Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen, she revealed her preference for solitude and discomfort in social gatherings. Underwood mentioned that her husband, Mike Fisher, is more extroverted, having many friends and often socializing, which helps to balance their relationship dynamics.
“I love being at home. I would literally never leave my house… I get nervous in crowds and in group settings and stuff like that,” she revealed.
“He’s got a million friends and we’re always hanging out with them. So yeah, I feel like we balance each other out,” she added.
