If I Stay: Learning to Play the Cello
Contrary to her TCA outfit, the ‘Kick-Ass’ star’s ensemble at the New York screening of “If I Stay” impressed most fashion critics.
She stars as Mia Hall in the 2014 teen romantic drama based on the novel by Gayle Forman. For the role, Chloë had to learn to play the cello. Despite her efforts, a double was used for the cello scenes, with Chloë’s head digitally added in post-production. Jamie Blackley, who plays her love interest Adam, recorded and performed his songs live.

Director’s Musical Touch
The director, R.J. Cutler, gave each cast member an iPod filled with music their characters would listen to—Chloë received classical music, while Jamie got rock. Chloë, who had short blonde hair then, wore a wig for the role.
Interestingly, the book’s band “Shooting Star” was renamed “Willamette Stone” in the movie. The screenplay was featured on the 2009 Blacklist, highlighting it as one of the most liked unmade scripts of the year. Chloë, Jamie, and their co-star Lina Liberato became close friends, even nominating each other for the ALS ice bucket challenge.

Everyone agreed that this was appropriate for her age! The young actress wore her hair in a low, loose bun, and her makeup was simple with nude lipstick and dark lashes.
