The style stakes were high at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards, but Dominic Sherwood’s then-girlfriend Sarah Hyland once again proved that she can give other Hollywood A-listers a run for their money.

The then 25-year-old actress arrived at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles wearing an elegant blue gown from J. Mendel.
She was joined on the red carpet by her then-boyfriend Dominic Sherwood, who looked sharp in a black tux and leather shoes.

What happened with Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood?
A year and a half later, news broke that the couple had amicably split after two years of dating. A source told People in August 2017, “They aren’t dating anymore but they’re still in contact and want to remain friends.”
Hyland and Sherwood started dating after meeting on the set of Vampire Academy in 2014. After going public as a couple in March 2015, they were seen kissing at the 2015 Coachella Music Festival and at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In an interview with ET in February 2016, Sherwood talked about his love for the Lipstick Jungle actress.
“Sarah makes me want to be a better version of myself. That’s what I love most about her. She inspires me to be the best version of me.”
“It was a tricky conversation … and we’ve dealt with it in different ways,” he said about their breakup in an interview with The Courier-Mail in September 2018.
“It’s a tricky balance, but I think I’m starting to get who I want to be,” he added.

Sarah attended the event to support her hit TV series Modern Family, which was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series category.

Unfortunately, Sarah and her crew lost to the cast of Netflix’s series “Orange Is The New Black.”

The “Vampire Academy” star never fails to impress on the red carpet, and she did not disappoint with her choice of gown.

The navy dress featured lace detailing and black trimming at the bodice and had a thigh-high slit — giving the actress an opportunity to pull off Angelina Jolie’s famous leg pose.

Sarah accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira jewels, including a pair of teardrop earrings and a chunky bangle. She parted her hair to the side and applied smoky eyeshadow, mascara, and nude pink lipstick to finish her look.

Sarah rounded out her look with a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti “Gwyneth” sandals. These striking sandals feature glittered straps, open toes, ankle straps, and about 4.7-inch heels.

You can get these sandals in black and gold versions at Farfetch and Amazon.
