This year marks the 60th anniversary of Dr. Martens’ iconic 1460 boot. To celebrate, the footwear giant is launching a series of 12 collaborations, called the 1460 Remastered Project, with 12 innovative and world-renowned designers.

After teaming up with streetwear label BAPE last January, footwear giant Dr. Martens has now tapped Hello Kitty for another collaboration.

Sanrio, the Japanese company that created the fictional character in 1974, is also celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

In line with the celebration of their respective anniversaries, the two brands created a Harajuku-inspired capsule collection that includes platform boots, sandals, and loafers.

You can shop the entire collection at Zappos and Dr. Martens. The collaboration clashes Dr. Martens’ tough aesthetic with Hello Kitty’s cuteness, but the contrast surprisingly works.

Each pair has Harajuku-style thick platforms, Hello Kitty prints, and other cute Sanrio graphics finished with Dr. Martens’ signature markings.

Hello Kitty x Dr. Martens Jadon Boots

One of the most recognizable Docs is the Jadon boots. For this collaboration, Dr. Martens’ iconic 8-Eye boots are revamped with an asymmetrical Hello Kitty print on the ankle on one boot and her twin sister Mimmy on the other.

Crafted from tough, smooth matte leather, these boots also have bold, white Hello Kitty text printed along the back, nickel heart-shaped eyelets, and 1.5-inch quad platforms.

These boots are finished with Dr. Martens’ yellow welt stitching, grooved edges, side zips, and rear pull tabs. You can buy them for $200.

The 1461 Quad Hello Kitty

The 1461 low-top shoes are the second shoes that Dr. Martens crafted. For this version, the legendary label added a white heart on the vamp of each shoe with Hello Kitty and Mimmy peeking around the corner.

They also have Hello Kitty lettering up the heel done in bold, white font, white eyelets, yellow welt stitching, and pull tabs at the back.

Made from sleek and shiny patent lamper, they retail for $170.

Vegan Hello Kitty Sandals

Dr. Martens and Hello Kitty also teamed up for a pair of vegan sandals.

Made from vegan materials, these sandals have red bow prints all over, a print of Hello Kitty’s head on the ankle tab fastenings, and Hello Kitty lettering on the front strap tabs.

They also feature white and yellow vegan heel loops, yellow stitching, and triple-height platforms. These are the cheapest shoes in the collection, retailing for $120.

The capsule collection also includes Dr. Martens x Hello Kitty 1460 kids with spare red laces and a leather heart-shaped satchel with Hello Kitty and bow motifs.

This isn’t the first time that Hello Kitty and Dr. Martens have collaborated. Back in 2010, the two iconic labels partnered up for a joint celebration of their 50th anniversary.

“A decade ago, we teamed up with Sanrio for a joint birthday celebration/collaboration. Sanrio was celebrating 50 years of alternative Harajuku attitude, while we marked 50 years of the 1460 boot.

Ten years on, and naturally, we both have new anniversaries to celebrate. The two brands are overdue a reunion,” the footwear label said in a statement.
