At a special screening of the final episode of Mad Men held at The Ace Hotel Theater in Los Angeles on May 17, 2015, Elisabeth Moss paired a black-and-white Romona Keveza dress with one of the evening’s most distinctive shoe choices: Jerome C. Rousseau’s “Bryant” pumps.

While the dress embraced a clean monochrome palette, the pumps introduced an unexpected burst of color.

Finished in bright orange suede and detailed with the designer’s signature hook-shaped heel, the shoes immediately drew attention and provided a striking contrast against the otherwise understated look.

She was joined by castmates Jessica Paré, Jon Hamm, Vincent Kartheiser, John Slattery, Kiernan Shipka, and Christopher Stanley, as well as creator Matthew Weiner.

Elisabeth styled the dress with Jerome C. Rousseau’s “Bryant” pumps, a vivid orange suede design distinguished by the French designer’s signature hook-shaped heel.

Beyond their vibrant color, the pumps showcased one of Jerome C. Rousseau’s most recognizable signatures: the sculptural hook-shaped heel. The design transformed an otherwise classic peep-toe silhouette into something far more architectural, helping distinguish the brand from competitors that relied on logos or embellishment.

One year later, Abigail Breslin wore the same heels with a metallic Christian Siriano high-low gown at the 2016 Directors Guild of America Awards.

At first glance, the pumps appeared slightly oversized, but that may have been intentional. Red-carpet stylists often select shoes a half-size or even a full-size larger than usual to accommodate foot swelling during long premieres, press lines, and photo calls. With the “Bryant,” however, fit is especially important because the shoe’s architectural heel relies on precise proportions to create its signature visual effect.

When properly fitted, the sculptural cutout at the back of the heel creates the illusion of the foot hovering above the curved structure. Here, the visible gap between Moss’s heel and the shoe slightly disrupted that suspended effect, softening the clean geometric lines that make the design so memorable.

Elisabeth allowed her footwear to provide the strongest visual contrast in the look.

The designer’s sculptural approach to footwear can also be seen in Olivia Munn’s futuristic Jerome C. Rousseau “Tron” heels and Rumer Willis’s Jerome C. Rousseau pumps, both of which showcased the brand’s preference for architectural silhouettes over obvious logos or embellishments.

What Happened to Jerome C. Rousseau? The Fate of a Once-Popular Red-Carpet Shoe Brand

Today, Jerome C. Rousseau serves as a reminder of how quickly once-visible fashion brands can fade from view. During the late 2000s and early 2010s, the designer’s sculptural heels regularly appeared on celebrities, yet the label has been largely inactive for years.

The brand’s official Instagram account has not posted since July 25, 2023, and its former online presence has effectively disappeared.

As of June 2026, jeromerousseau*.com* displays only a generic “Launching Soon” landing page that bears little resemblance to the company’s original website.

WHOIS records indicate that the domain was registered in December 2025 through a privacy service rather than an identifiable company associated with the original brand. While that does not automatically rule out a future revival, it also does not confirm any connection to Jérôme C. Rousseau or the label that once appeared on red carpets.

Fashion-industry observers have seen similar situations before. When discontinued brands lose control of their domains, those web addresses are often acquired by third parties because they still retain valuable media links and search visibility. A placeholder website can therefore create the appearance of activity even when no official fashion business remains behind it.

Kiernan Shipka Keeps It Youthful in Valentino and Crystal-Embellished Sandals

While Moss’s bright orange Jerome C. Rousseau pumps became one of the evening’s most memorable footwear moments, she wasn’t the only Mad Men star to bring noteworthy shoes to the celebration.

Fellow cast member Kiernan Shipka took a different approach, pairing her Valentino dress with delicate crystal-embellished silver Miu Miu sandals that complemented the youthful elegance of her look.
