In August 2024, the streets of New York City became a backdrop for FKA Twigs’ distinct brand of high-concept fashion.
While promoting her role in the gothic reimagining of The Crow, the artist leaned into a frequently avant-garde aesthetic that blurred the lines between the film’s supernatural themes and modern streetwear.

Known for a style that favors architectural silhouettes over trends, Twigs’ press tour wardrobe served as a study in texture—mixing distressed leathers, sheer laces, and the gravity-defying footwear that has become her visual signature.
From dystopian gray sets to towering platform boots, these looks offer a snapshot of an artist who uses clothing as an extension of her cinematic world-building.

The Crow Story Behind FKA Twigs’ Darkly Romantic Press Tour
The Crow is the fifth installment in The Crow franchise and the second film to adapt the 1989 comic book series by James O’Barr, following the 1994 film.
It follows Eric Draven (Bill Skarsgård), a man who is resurrected after he and his girlfriend Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are murdered. He comes back to life as The Crow and begins his mission to get revenge.
At different stages of the casting process, Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Jack Huston, and Jason Momoa were all considered for the role of Eric, but it eventually went to Bill Skarsgård.

The Crow, released on August 23, received unfavorable reviews from critics. Regretfully, it’s a box office flop, grossing only $9.7 million worldwide on a $50 million budget.
With her sci-fi goth ensembles, FKA Twigs heightened anticipation for the film, using fashion as a form of world-building. While her method-dressing didn’t translate into box office success, her wardrobe—an exacting expression of her avant-garde aesthetic—remains undeniably compelling.
Dune-Style Drama: Rombaut Gray Layers and Han Kjøbenhavn “Mono” Boots
Leaving the GMA studios, the petite English singer-songwriter went for a dystopian look, wearing a cozy gray top and skirt that I think only FKA Twigs can pull off.
It’s actually giving Dune vibes. Her outfit features an asymmetrical top with a high neck and a layered, ruched fabric that runs diagonally across the bodice and wraps around her arm like an arm sling. Revealing a hint of her midriff, FKA paired it with a low-rise, ruched midi skirt with a raw hem. I just love how effortlessly FKA Twigs carries such an unconventional look.
The ensemble feels like Rick Owens’ glamorous take on gothic grunge, but surprisingly, it’s from Rombaut’s Spring 2025 collection. The Paris-based label began as a vegan footwear brand in 2013 but has now grown to include clothing.
FKA Twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, confidently rocked her half-shaved head, which she debuted in March, and wore the rest of her long, raven hair in a ponytail. Though some may find it ridiculous, I must admit, she’s really pulling it off!

I find her ensemble visually arresting as it is, but FKA Twigs doesn’t seem to agree. With the assistance of her stylist, Georgia Pendlebury, she added even more futuristic accessories to the already avant-garde look.
She covered her eyes with a visor, fastened a few ear studs to her ears, and wore oversized marbled boots that others may find too much.
Her pillow-like boots appear very bulky, but given her out-of-this-world preferences—which, let’s face it, go hand in hand with her distinct personality—they really made the ensemble remarkable.
FKA Twigs’ “Mono” boots are by Han Kjøbenhavn, a Copenhagen-based brand that began as an eyewear company. It branched out into clothing, offering distinctive styles that fuse avant-garde with arcane punk, as seen on FKA Twigs’ boots.

Sleek Leather Power: Celine Separates and Windowsen “Metal Dragon” Platform Boots
Arriving at the GMA studios, FKA Twigs turned heads in a head-to-toe brown leather ensemble. She chose a neutral color scheme similar to her gray Rombaut suit but more relatable.
The then-36-year-old singer, actress, and dancer stepped out in a Celine Fall 2024 ensemble, wearing a chestnut leather jacket cut close to her frame. Designed with a classic collar and front buttons, she fastened just one, allowing a subtle glimpse of skin that added a seductive edge to the sleek, high-gloss finish.
FKA Twigs teamed her jacket with a coordinating miniskirt that skimmed her well-defined thighs. I like that she went with a more conventional pairing. But of course, it wouldn’t be an FKA Twigs look without something eccentric.

Wearing her hair straight at the back of her half-shaved head, FKA Twigs gave her monochromatic leather look a dash of glitter with rectangular silver hoop earrings and her navel piercing.
The focal point of the ensemble? Those boots, of course!
Her Windowsen platform boots resemble Rick Owens’ designs. They are gravity-defying and boundary-pushing, perfectly encapsulating the avant-garde label’s daring designs, which often blend couture and clubwear. While I wouldn’t dare wear these boots, FKA Twigs clearly had no trouble moving around in them.
Called the “Metal Dragon,” these $1,073 polyurethane thigh-high boots have 3.8-inch platforms and 7.8-inch silver metal heels. The square heel counters and toes add to their space-age vibe.

Goth-Glam After Dark: Giuseppe di Morabito Lace and Marc Jacobs “Kiki” Boots
FKA Twigs went the goth-glam route at The Crow world premiere after-party sponsored by Ssense and TikTok.
She wore a Fall 2024 party-ready black lace dress by Giuseppe di Morabito, an Italian fashion label that combines traditional with exquisitely modern style.
I like how her daring yet edgy minidress complements The Crow’s mysterious yet eerie theme. It has a flirty corset bodice that accentuates her toned contours to perfection. In addition, it boasts a cleavage-baring lace-up bust and a structured boned corset that creates a fitted look.
The lower part of the ensemble features a black lace miniskirt with a knotted draping extending from her hips to her ankles.

Although it’s a simple lace lingerie set, FKA Twigs added her own flair, enhancing the ensemble’s gothic vibe. She had black nail polish, black leather arm cuffs, and a black clutch in her hand.
Completing her sultry gothic look was a pair of Marc Jacobs “Kiki” boots—yup, another pair of towering shoes that undoubtedly boosted FKA Twigs’ 5’3” height.
They have five slim straps, three of which have silver-tone buckles, and are set on 6.3-inch sky-high block heels and around 3-inch platforms.

I love these shoes. They’re wearable, versatile, and look great with skirts and jeans! Drew Barrymore wore the pink knee-high version for her birthday, and Kim Kardashian modeled them for the label’s Fall 2023 campaign.
They are available in black croc-embossed leather for $550 at Farfetch. At the time of writing, they are out of stock at Mytheresa.

Off-Duty Edge: Ribbed Tank, Ombre Leather Pants, and Paris Texas “Esther” Boots
FKA Twigs opted for a casual but edgy look for her guest appearance on SiriusXM. I have to admit, I really love it since it’s so relatable and appropriate for a radio guest appearance.
She wore a basic cream-colored rib-knit tank top with form-fitting leather pants with an ombre finish, gradually fading from dark to lighter burgundy.
With her buzzcut-dreadlock hairstyle, FKA Twigs hid her eyes behind an oversized pair of black sunglasses.

She wore a silver bangle, several rings, a septum ring, and stud earrings to add a little glitter to her otherwise casual ensemble.
As expected from the fashion icon, FKA Twigs finished the stylish combination with burgundy boots to keep things cohesive.
I love that she opted to go minimal this time, wearing the $1,125 “Esther” boots from Paris Texas. They are cut from soft suede fabric and have casual slouchy shafts, rounded toes, and around 2-inch heels.
