While Gwendoline Tracey Philippa Christie portrayed Brienne of Tarth in the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones (2012–2019), many seem to believe that Tilda Swinton played the role.

In an interview with News Corp Australia, Gwendoline Christie admitted she owes her career to the leftfield looks of Tilda Swinton.

“When I saw Tilda Swinton in Orlando, and I watched this incredible woman that was so pale and so unlike the kind of Hollywood actors I was used to seeing.

“I remember thinking, ‘Well, she is in a film, she is otherworldly, and is definitely outside of the room.’ I realized that maybe there is a place for me too.”

In April 2015, Gwendoline Christie also talked about her admiration for Tilda Swinton in an interview with Vogue.

I got a television for my 11th birthday and I would stay up till 2 in the morning watching strange and unusual films on Channel 4, like Orlando with Tilda Swinton. I was very pale—pale skin, pale eyelashes, blond hair down to my hip bones—and I remember thinking, Here’s someone not a million miles away from me in a film version of a book I deeply admire, and I thought maybe it is possible. Things like that genuinely give you the confidence to go ahead. I admire Brienne for overcoming the obstacle through physical means and an overriding sense of moral good. Her psychology is beautifully, sensitively explored by George R.R. Martin. You see past the height to the choices that she makes, rather than that it’s “the tall woman beating up the guy.

In September 2015, Tilda Swinton attended the premiere of her new film “A Bigger Splash” held during the 2015 Venice Film Festival at Sala Grande in Venice, Italy.

The Italian-French thriller is a remake of the 1969 Italian-French film “La Piscine,” which is a drama of sexual jealousy and possessiveness.

She styled the pastel-colored dress with an unflattering pair of white satin pumps that did nothing for her outfit.
