The Story Behind Dreams: Love, Power & Privilege

Dreams is set in the world of ballet and high society. Jessica Chastain stars as Jennifer McCarthy, a wealthy socialite and philanthropist with an interest in charity work in Mexico. There, she meets Fernando Rodriguez (Isaac Hernandez), a ballet dancer with big dreams of international fame and a life in the US.

Their romance grows quickly, but everything changes when Fernando crosses the U.S. border illegally and shows up in Jennifer’s perfect San Francisco life. What starts as a passionate reunion soon raises more profound questions about power, privilege, and the strength of their relationship.

Dreams is the second time Chastain and Franco have worked together, following their 2023 film Memory.
