Ellen Pompeo, star of Grey’s Anatomy, discussed the exits of co-stars Katherine Heigl and Isaiah Washington in an interview with the New York Post. Heigl left the show in 2010 after several tumultuous seasons, including withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration in 2008 due to dissatisfaction with her material.
Pompeo noted that Heigl’s departure was complicated by her renewed contract and subsequent failed movie career. Heigl expressed interest in returning in 2012, but creator Shonda Rhimes dismissed the possibility.
When Katie left, it was tough. You could understand why she wanted to go — when you’re offered $12 million a movie and you’re only 26. But Katie’s problem is that she should not have renewed her contract. She re-upped, took a big raise and then tried to get off the show. And then her movie career did not take off.
Just days after Ellen Pompeo’s interview, Katherine appeared very relaxed and in high spirits. She walked hand in hand with her husband, Josh Kelley, and their pet pooch in tow. Whether she’s bothered by the backlash or not, we can’t deny that she looked positively glowing nevertheless. Katherine’s casual pre-fall outfit seemed very polished and put together.

Although her burgundy-colored coated denim jeans may not be a hot trend this season, she styled them perfectly with a light chambray top and a black blazer.
