Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom appeared to enjoy their time together at the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, looking all loved-up clad in matching glitzy black ensembles.

A-list celebrities, business figures, and tech leaders gathered at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Saturday to celebrate science and mathematics luminaries and their achievements in fundamental physics, life sciences, and mathematics.

But Katy and Orlando appeared to be in their own world, holding hands, staring into each other’s eyes, and rubbing noses on the red carpet.

On Theme: Katy Perry in Gravity-Defying Coperni Bell Gown

After witnessing Katy Perry wear a daring red-hot outfit that exposed her 3D butterfly tattoo, butt cheeks, and G-strings last month, I must say that I was surprised—or rather, relieved—by her most recent red carpet appearance.

I appreciate how Katy adhered to the event’s theme by dressing in a gravity-defying black gown with a floating neckline and a bell-shaped skirt. The structured round silhouette even reminds me of Saturn’s ring!

Hailing from Coperni’s Spring 2024 collection, the gown features an off-the-shoulder floating neckline and a sculpted bodice that holds the dress in place. It expands from her tiny waist to a structured bell-shaped skirt hemmed at the ankles.

I love how her gown blends modern minimalism with classic glamour, a far cry from her previous red carpet choices.

Tatiana Waterford deserves praise for curating Katy Perry’s Saturday night look. Styled with minimal accessories, she looked fabulous from head to toe.

Waterford kept Perry’s neck unadorned but added a dash of sparkles to her ensemble with 925 sterling silver earrings from Mara Paris. She fastened the $193 Small Sense Drop Earrings to her ears, smoothly sculpted in an oval shape to evoke a sense of fluidity inspired by modern abstract sculptures.

The American Idol judge added the $193 (from $293) Flux Ear Cuff to one ear and the $130 Perfectly Imperfect Band Ear Cuff to the other, enhancing the look’s contemporary elegance.

In keeping with the space-age aesthetic, Perry slipped her feet into a pair of sleek, metallic silver pumps with pointed toes and about 3-inch sculptural comma heels.

Also, hairstylist Rick Henry styled Perry’s hair in a sleek center-parted ponytail decorated with silver Kurumi ponytail jewelry that mimicked planetary orbits. I particularly love the subtle references to the night’s theme.

Michael Anthony, meanwhile, kept her beauty look understated using cool tones, accentuating her eyes with metallic silver eyeshadow and thick lashes, and applying pink blush and nude pink lipstick.

While Perry looked beautiful in her black gown, fans, including me, were more drawn to her transparent bag—or instead, what’s inside of it. Perry carried the Coperni Mini Swipe glass top handle bag, retailing for $4,520 at Nordstrom. It was made in Spain from blown glass with an open top and a structured top handle.

Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed a white lip gloss bottle or more like a rolled paper inside her clear bag bearing the text “KP6: Top Secret,” hinting at her next album.

During her residency show in Las Vegas in August 2023, Perry also teased her upcoming studio album, saying, “If you couldn’t love me in my Witness and Smile eras, then you can’t love me in my KP6 era.”

Katy Perry is joined on the red carpet by her fiancé Orlando Bloom. The two have been together since 2016, and I admire them for having such a romantic relationship—they couldn’t even keep their hands off one other as they posed for pictures.

Bloom, as always, looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo with satin lapels. Underneath, he wore a white shirt with a black bowtie. A pair of satin-striped trousers and black loafer shoes completed his ensemble.
