Since rising to international prominence as the enigmatic Effy Stonem on the 2007 E4 series Skins, British actress Kaya Scodelario has maintained a steady presence in both independent cinema and major Hollywood franchises like The Maze Runner.

Beyond her acting range, Kaya Scodelario is frequently noted for her striking resemblance to Kristen Stewart, often topping lists of celebrity lookalikes.

Slightly taller at 5ft 5 (165.1 cm) and wearing a US shoe size 7.5, Scodelario contrasts subtly with Stewart, who stands 5ft 3¾ (161.9 cm) and wears a US size 6.5. Despite these differences, their shared effortless, cool-girl edge has made both women enduring icons of contemporary style.

Scodelario’s entry into the industry is a testament to her early ambition.

At just 14 years old, she attended an open casting call in London for Skins, famously inflating her age on the audition forms to meet the show’s 16-plus requirement. In a 2019 retrospective with The Hollywood Reporter, she detailed the serendipitous moment her career began:

One day, my drama teacher at school said, off the cuff, that they were doing open auditions for this show [Skins], and it happened to be on my way home from school. So, I went to have a look at the people in line, see who was auditioning and just sit there and dream that it would be me.

I was sitting across the road, and this producer [Bryan Elsley] came outside to have a cigarette. He saw me across the road and for some reason, he came over and asked me if I wanted to audition. I said, “Yes,” but I knew I was too young because I was told you had to be 16 and up. So, I lied and said that I was 16 and a half, and he let me audition.

Then, they called back and said that I was too old. Then, I admitted that I lied about my age. Luckily, they gave me the opportunity. I happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Reflecting her transition from teen star to red-carpet fixture, Scodelario made a notable appearance at the London premiere of In the Heart of the Sea at Leicester Square in December 2015.

She attended the event to support her then-fiancé, American actor Benjamin Walker, who starred in the maritime epic.

The couple, who met on the set of The Moon and the Sun, married shortly after the premiere in late 2015, but they separated in 2024.

Kaya took our breath away in a head-to-toe Chanel ensemble.

The Maze Runner star kept things effortlessly chic in a minimalist black dress, softened by a whisper-light chiffon panel that floated from the waist and fluttered as she walked, subtly revealing her toned legs with each step.

When we said head-to-toe Chanel, we meant head-to-toe Chanel. The actress finished her ensemble with a pair of Chanel cage sandals that featured a white floral detail on the front.

Upon closer inspection of her footwear, we also caught a slight toe overhang!

The rest of Kaya’s ensemble is so classy and stunning that we’re willing to overlook this faux pas.
