She’s back in the music scene! And Kylie Minogue is breaking records with her latest queer anthem, Padam Padam, which has been steadily climbing the global charts.
Padam Padam, the first track and lead single from her upcoming sixteenth studio album, Tension, gave Kylie a Top 10 single in the UK for five straight decades, from the 1980s to the 2020s.
The song debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number 26 and peaked at number eight in its fifth week, making it her first UK Top 10 since 2011’s Higher. A day after its release, Padam Padam landed at number eight on both the Singles Downloads Chart and Singles Sales Chart and later peaked at number 1.

Padam Padam was Minogue’s first top forty single in Australia since 2012’s Timebomb, debuting at number 39 and peaking at number 19 on the ARIA Singles Chart. In the US, the song topped the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart, her first since the chart’s inception in 2013.
Padam Padam wasn’t exactly a hit when it debuted in May as it was primarily geared toward older people. However, the song later generated viral memes and dance videos on social media, attracting a new generation of listeners.
“I just wanted to say thank you, thank you so, so much for all your birthday messages and the Padam reaction and the love.”
“It has been an incredible week topped off by being my birthday today and I can’t thank you enough. My heart is bursting with joy,” the singer said in an Instagram post on her 55th birthday.

Celebrating the success of her comeback single, which has been described as “hypnotic electro-pop” music, Minogue was pictured in a series of electrifying monochromatic looks while making the rounds on the media circuit last week.
1. Kylie Minogue in Alexis Mabille
The former Neighbours actress made a showstopping entrance at the Today show Thursday as she arrived in a purple satin mini dress from French fashion designer Alexis Mabille’s Spring 2023 Couture collection.
All eyes were on the Padam Padam hitmaker in the glamorously draped crepe number that had enormous cape-like scarf flaps, a cowl neck, raw trims, and sparkling bejeweled accents strewn around the hem.

Speaking to Today, Minogue admitted to embracing the “Padam Padam” craze and continuously repeating the song’s catchy chorus.
“[Padam Padam] is always there. It’s either in the back of my head, the frontal lobes, or actually coming out of my mouth. And I’m loving it. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of it. It lives and breathes.”
Minogue confirmed that “Padam Padam” is an onomatopoeia of a heartbeat. “It says it in the song: ‘I can feel your heart beating: ‘Padam.’”
But since becoming a viral hit, “Padam” has “taking on its own meaning.” “It’s a greeting. It’s a farewell. There is a call and response. Say it, then you have to say it back. Answer, or answer yourself.”

2. Kylie Minogue in Ingorokva
As a nod to her new viral hit, the Street Fighter actress wore a ravishing red hot jumpsuit on her way to tape an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen at the Bravo Clubhouse in Manhattan Monday.
She looked ageless in the bright red number, sourced from Tbilisi-based designer Ingorokva’s Fall/Winter 2016-2017 collection.
The one-piece outfit was giving a luxurious boiler-suit look with its wide collar, three-quarter sleeves, tapered hem, epaulets, and front buttons. In addition, it also featured a belted waist that accentuated Minogue’s tiny waist.

The Can’t Get You Out of My Head hitmaker stayed true to the Padam theme of her look by wearing matching red pumps and ruby red nail polish.
Her glam team gave her complementary makeup, with James Kaliardos highlighting her blue eyes with bold eyeliner and mascara. Hairstylist Bob Recine then styled Minogue’s blonde tresses in tousled waves, flowing over her shoulders.

3. Kylie Minogue in Stella McCartney
Following the taping, Kylie Minogue switched up her look and emerged from the iconic Bravo Clubhouse wearing yet another monochromatic getup.
This time, she was dressed in a shimmering charcoal gray outfit dotted with micro crystals all over. It featured a drapey top with long, loose sleeves and an asymmetric coordinating skirt that just barely revealed her toned leg.
Wearing the same hair and beauty look, Minogue kept her red manicure to brighten up her rather somber outfit.
