On Thursday night, April 11, the 41-year-old Kenyan-Mexican actress reaffirmed her status as a red carpet icon at the 2024 CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards held inside Omnia Nightclub at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Stunning in Metallic Gold Celine Gown

For the occasion, Lupita Nyong’o made a striking statement in a breathtaking gold Celine gown by Hedi Slimane.

Renowned for infusing lingerie-inspired elements, her choice undoubtedly left onlookers in awe, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it left everyone’s jaws dropping. My reaction? All I can say is, wow. Just wow!

What catches my eye is how the Black Panther star radiates on the red carpet, draped in lamé satin that effortlessly hugged her form. The fabric seemed to flow like liquid, a meticulously crafted detail that elevated the gown’s seemingly simple tailoring.

I find her shimmering slip dress to exude grace and allure. Its form-fitting silhouette beautifully accentuated her model figure, enhanced by delicate spaghetti straps and a square neckline with a subtle cowl detail.

Adding a touch of charm to her already dazzling ensemble, I admire the plunging scooped back of her metallic gown. It cascaded down into a subtle mermaid skirt, creating an elegant outline that gracefully pooled around her feet.

Stylish Accessories and Flawless Makeup

While mostly concealed beneath the hem of her show-stopping attire, Lupita paired her look with strappy silver Celine Soir sandals.

Credit goes to stylist Micaela Erlanger for curating her ensemble. I particularly appreciate their decision to keep accessories understated, except for the matching De Beers Talisman Cocktail earrings in yellow gold embellished with rhinestones.

The striking diamond ring adorning her middle finger provided a striking contrast against her daringly pointed gold manicure.

Completing her look, her makeup was impeccable. It featured a satin-finish deep red lipstick and subtle gold eyeshadow delicately applied over her eyelids.

As for the event, the Queen of Katwe actress was captured on the red carpet posing with her A Quiet Place: Day One co-star Joseph Quinn, who was honored with the Breakthrough Performer of the Year award. Wearing her high heels, Lupita Nyong’o, who stands at 5ft 3 ¾ inches (161.9 cm), appears much closer in height to Joseph Quinn, who is 5ft 10 ¼ inches (178.4 cm).

Lupita Nyong’o’s 2024 CinemaCon Star Of The Year Award

During the award show, Lupita Nyong’o was honored with the prestigious 2024 CinemaCon Star of the Year Award, a recognition previously bestowed upon notable figures such as Zendaya and Kevin Hart.

Stepping onto the stage to accept the accolade, she took a moment to reflect on a pivotal moment from her past, recalling the first time a movie profoundly impacted her life.

The first black Jury President of the Berlin International Film Festival reminisced, “My very first date was going to see a movie at the cinema in Nairobi, Kenya, where I grew up. I was 16. Not only was I going out with this boy I liked for the first time, but I would be watching my crush, Leonardo DiCaprio, in none other than Titanic.”

Lupita confessed, “My walls were adorned with posters of Leonardo DiCaprio, and to see him on the big screen was a dream come true.”

She then shared a personal revelation, “I was so devastated by the fate of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character that I wept and wept. Long after the credits had rolled, I was inconsolable. In fact, my date and I stayed in the theater for so long that even the staff began cleaning up around us, urging us to leave.”

The Star Wars actress emphasized, “But that moment was so special to me. It was more than just a movie. It was an experience that shook me to the core that night. What I experienced firsthand was the power of cinema to transport us to another world, to make us feel things we never thought possible—like developing a fear of glaciers.”
