When Mindy Kaling and Chelsea Peretti attended Fox’s “Girls Night Out” in North Hollywood on June 9, 2014, they showcased two very different approaches to summer evening footwear.

While Kaling opted for a classic designer silhouette, Peretti went for a more textured, seasonal sandal.

For the occasion, Kaling chose a long-sleeved shift dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs, defined by a graphic radio-wave print.

To balance the bold pattern of the dress, she leaned into high-end accessories, carrying an embellished Miu Miu crossbody and finishing the look with a pair of pointed-toe pumps.

She wore the same Saint Laurent ‘Janis’ pumps that we spotted her wearing at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The long-sleeved mini dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs was cut from lightweight crepe and featured a fold-over collar. On the runway, it was styled with chunky white trainers.

Classic Pumps vs. Caged Sandals: Two Evening Shoe Directions That Still Work

Mindy Kaling’s sharp Saint Laurent pumps and Chelsea Peretti’s metallic Via Spiga sandals capture a contrast that still feels relevant today—sleek, leg-lengthening minimalism versus airy, texture-driven statement.

Whether you lean toward polished pointed toes or intricate caged designs, both approaches show how the right heel can completely shape the mood of an outfit.
