The Grammy Awards are finally here, and as always, the red carpet promises plenty of excitement.
Before we get to this year’s main-event fashion moments—and, of course, the winners—it’s worth taking a look at what the stars wore to the Pre-Grammy Gala & Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honoring Avery Lipman and Monte Lipman.

The red carpet was polished and elegant, with many stepping out in stunning evening gowns. What caught my eye was the variety of colors on display. Black was still present, but we also saw a balanced mix of rich colors and softer tones that kept things fresh and visually interesting.
Shoes were just as important. Open-toe heels were everywhere, from timeless, minimalist designs to more daring, statement-making pairs. Let’s take a closer look at the standout moments from the Pre-Grammy gala.
Demi Lovato Shines in Black Heels and Liquid Black Rodarte Sequined Gown
Demi Lovato looked stunning in this sleek, all-black look. I liked that she didn’t overdo the styling and kept her shoes simple with black leather heels.
Clean and understated, they featured slim, buckled ankle straps, stiletto heels, and open toes that let her red pedicure stand out. They’re a timeless style you can always rely on, and here, they did exactly that, letting her dress do all the talking.

The real statement, of course, was her Rodarte column gown. Demi paired her understated black sandals with a form-fitting black gown that accentuated her hourglass figure. It boasted a halter neckline that framed her shoulders and drew attention upward, while the large keyhole cutout running down the center added that signature bold, unapologetic edge Demi wears so well.
What really stood out to me, though, was the fabric. It was entirely covered in shimmering black sequins that gave it a fluid, liquid finish, catching the light with every movement and keeping the black from feeling flat. This Rodarte creation is on sale for $2,639 (down from $3,770) at Mytheresa.
Demi skipped bracelets altogether, which kept her arm tattoos visible, and stuck to tiny diamond studs and a few rings for extra shine. Her hair was styled in soft, side-parted retro waves, and her makeup stayed polished with defined eyeliner and soft pink lips.

Heidi Klum Goes All In on Red with Mules and Maria Lucia Hohan Pleated Gown
Like Lovato, Heidi Klum also leaned into a monochromatic look, but hers was bold red. She wore red open-toe mules that looked clean and minimal, which I liked against such a dramatic outfit.
They appeared to be made from a satin-like material with a soft sheen that added polish without drawing undue attention. Finished with slim stiletto heels, they gave Klum extra height and made her already long legs look even longer. I liked how the shoes’ simplicity helped balance the rest of her look.

Heidi wore her red mules with a bold red gown by Maria Lucia Hohan, and the designer’s romantic, ultra-feminine aesthetic was evident in her look. The dress featured a ruched, micro-pleated finish throughout, adding texture and dimension. From certain angles, it appeared to be fine fringes, giving the gown a soft, fluid feel.
The bodice plunged low, stopping just above her belly button. While the front was covered, the sides were cut open enough to reveal a hint of her sideboob, making the look even more daring. A wide ruched waistband cinched her waist like a corset, creating structure before the dress flowed into a long, floor-length skirt with a hip-high slit that showcased her shapely leg.
What really elevated the look for me was the fluffy red coat draped over her arms like a shawl. Her hair was worn down in loose waves, and I loved that she skipped her usual shaggy bangs, making her look fresher. Finished with warm rust-toned eyeshadow and peachy makeup, her look felt cohesive, confident, and very Heidi.

Madison Beer Embraces Bridal Glamour in Beige Jimmy Choo Heels and Marmar Halim Gown
Madison Beer looked stunning in a head-to-toe beige ensemble. She stepped out in the Jimmy Choo “Rosie” sandals that instantly gave her a delicate, bridal feel. Made in Italy from satin, the shoes featured knotted straps across the toes and slim ankle straps that kept them secure. The platforms and tall 4.5-inch stiletto heels added height, but the design still felt graceful.
The satin heels blended seamlessly with her gown, giving the entire look a soft, bridal elegance—as if she could walk straight down the aisle in them. The style is currently on sale for $682 (down from $975) at Mytheresa.

Beer paired the sandals with a $3,376 gown by Marmar Halim, and the Egypt-born, Dubai-based label’s signature dramatic silhouette and intricate draping were clearly on display. The silk fabric was softly pleated throughout, giving the dress a fluid feel. It was beautifully tailored to Madison’s figure, with a corseted bodice that provided structure and shape. I liked the twisted detail at the chest, which added visual interest to the design.
A wrap-style knot at the hip created natural draping that opened into a thigh-high slit, showing just enough leg and adding a subtle sense of allure. The gown was finished with a short train that trailed behind her, adding a touch of elegance.
Madison decided not to wear the capelet that originally came with the gown. I was curious how it might have looked on her, but leaving it seemed like the right decision for this event, since it could have been overkill.
She wore her brunette hair down in soft ringlets that flowed down her back, adding a romantic touch. Her makeup featured pink tones, with fluttery lashes highlighting her hazel eyes. Gemstone drop earrings, a bracelet, and a few rings added just enough sparkle to finish the look.

Chrissy Teigen Brings Color to the Red Carpet in Gold Tom Ford Heels and Aqua Blue Gown
Chrissy Teigen arrived with her husband, John Legend, and the two looked effortlessly put-together on the red carpet. Chrissy didn’t lean into the monochrome trend that dominated the night. Instead, she went for contrast—and it worked beautifully.
She wore head-to-toe Tom Ford, pairing an aqua-blue gown with pale-gold heels. Her shoes were Tom Ford’s iconic Padlock sandals, instantly recognizable for the padlock-and-key charm at the ankle. They featured pointed open toes, slim front straps and ankle straps, and tall stiletto heels that added height. I loved how the gold softened the look and added warmth against the cool blue of the dress.
You can get its darker gold version at Mytheresa for $1,420.

Her gown, made in Italy from silk, had a light, fluid quality that was evident when she moved. It featured a deep V neckline at both the front and back, revealing Chrissy’s skin without looking tacky. What I liked about the dress was how it fit through her waist and hips.
It featured pleated accents along the sides that added shape and definition, creating a flattering silhouette before the dress flowed into a long, sweeping skirt. A daring hip-high slit added drama and a touch of sultriness, but the overall feel remained elegant.
She kept her accessories cohesive, matching her gold heels with gold jewelry and a metallic clutch. Chrissy wore pieces by Jacquie Aiche, including a bold necklace that covered much of her chest, chandelier earrings, and a few rings. Her hair was styled in bouncy waves, swept over one shoulder, while her makeup stayed true to her signature look—bronzed skin, soft smoky eyes, and nude brown lips.
John complemented her perfectly in a $3,525 ivory single-breasted blazer by Maison Valentino Garavani, finished with black piping, styled with black trousers, a shirt, and shoes.

Suki Waterhouse Keeps It Cool and Textured in White Heels and Metallic Plunging Top
Suki Waterhouse brought an easy, cool energy to the red carpet, and I loved how relaxed her whole outfit looked.
She wore white open-toe heels with crisscross straps that were slightly thick but still clean and understated. They balanced her more elaborate outfit, keeping her look from feeling too busy. I wish we had a clearer view of them, because knowing Suki, even her simplest shoes usually have something special about them.

Suki wore the white sandals with a draped golden lime top with a deep V-neckline that fell softly down the front. The fabric had a rippled, crinkled texture that added depth, and it was finished with raw edges and loose threads, giving the look personality and keeping it from feeling too polished. It actually reminded me of a thick scarf wrapped around the neck and body, then secured at the waist with just a brown velvet tie belt. The backless design made it feel even more effortless.
Waterhouse paired the top with loose black trousers that fell smoothly to the floor, creating a strong contrast against the textured gold. For accessories, she kept things refined with pearl drop earrings featuring tiny clustered pearls, along with a few rings.

Rei Ami Turns Heads in Icy Blue Miss Sohee Leopard Boots and Matching Dress
Rei Ami has never been one to play it safe, and her look at the pre-Grammy gala stayed true to that reputation. She stepped out in a full leopard-print ensemble from Miss Sohee’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, but what really surprised me was the color. Instead of the usual brown-orange tones, the leopard print came in a cool, icy blue, making the look feel fresh and unexpected.
Her boots were impossible to miss. They matched the dress in the same light-blue leopard-print, climbing all the way up her thighs. Finished with lace-up ties and silver-and-white trims, the boots immediately caught my eye. The print alone was bold, but the thigh-high shafts took it even further, making them the most striking element of her look for me.

Ami paired the boots with a matching halter mini dress, finished with a thick, crystal-encrusted choker. While the concept worked, a shorter hemline—closer to the original runway styling—would have created sharper contrast with the thigh-high boots and made the proportions feel more dynamic.
The matching leopard coat draped over her arms added drama with its oversized, puffy sleeves. I loved its texture and volume, but it kind of swamped her petite frame. She finished the look with jewelry from David Webb and Alexis Bittar, though honestly, the outfit was strong enough on its own.
