The movie was shot in Puerto Rico and was the only Disney Channel Original Movie released in 2013. Maia Mitchell was 19, Garrett Clayton was 22, Ross Lynch was 17, and Gracie Gillam was 21 when “Teen Beach Movie” was released on July 19, 2013.
Ross Lynch was just 16 years old when filming the first Teen Beach Movie and was prohibited by the Disney Channel from taking his shirt off or kissing onscreen with his co-stars, presumably due to his young age, as revealed by the actor himself.

In September 2022, BuzzFeed featured a video of Ross Lynch reading fan thirst tweets, where he reacted to a tweet from a fan who wrote that he was their biggest sexual awakening, specifically in the Teen Beach Movie. Ross laughed and pointed out that the movie was very innocent.
“You know what’s funny, actually, I didn’t think they let me take my shirt off for that film. They had me in this like yellow rash guard the whole time. And they also, for some reason, they didn’t want Maia and I to kiss in the first movie… but we kissed anyway.”
A few days before the release of Teen Beach Movie on July 19, 2013, cast members and guests hit the blue carpet in London to display their summer style. A sequel, Teen Beach 2, premiered on June 26, 2015.
1. Maia Mitchell in Thick-Heeled Pumps
“Teen Beach Movie” star Maia Mitchell’s ensemble didn’t scream “summer,” but it did scream “early 2000s teen movie.”
Maia Mitchell and Garrett Clayton, who played Mack and Tanner in “Teen Beach Movie,” previously worked together on ABC’s TV show “The Fosters” (2013), with Maia playing one of the main characters.
She also acted alongside John DeLuca in “Jessie: Jessie’s Big Break” (2013), where they played love interests.

Maia went with an all-black ensemble comprised of black jeans paired with a too-long halter top.
While Maia’s ensemble from the ankle-up was questionable, we love her shoes.
The teen star opted for a pair of retro-inspired chunky-heeled platform Kat Maconie pumps that featured cool green embossed stripes.

2. Electra Formosa in Topshop ‘Lacie’ Sandals
Electra Formosa, a top UK fashion stylist, knew how to dress for the occasion.
The host of Disney Channel’s Get the Look wore a short, sexy cutout dress and light makeup, had wavy tresses, and even posed with a beach ball in hand.

Electra’s shoes were just as perfect as her ensemble. She wore platform sandals in a light color from Topshop — the “Lacie.”

3. Francine Lewis in S’Jays Shoes ‘Royal Highness’ Wedges
Francine Lewis, a British impressionist and model, looked like she was ready for a day out in the sun in her bright printed ’60s-style jumpsuit.
Her large hooped earrings also matched her attire perfectly.

Francine matched her eccentric look with a pair of equally loud crystallized gold “Royal Highness” wedges from S’Jays Shoes.

4. Michelle Heaton in Woven Wedges
British pop singer, Michelle Heaton, was also summer-ready in her floral tank dress.
Although the hat is a cute idea, we think she would have looked better without it. How about you?

5. Olivia Hallinan in Debenhams ‘Maudelene’ Peep-Toe Wedges
British TV star Olivia Hallinan went for casual and relaxed at the event.
She wore a floral dress with no accessories save for an orange lip-shaped bag. We love her simplicity.
