Tilda Swinton is playing a dual role in the mystery drama The Eternal Daughter. She’s playing filmmaker Julie, taking her mother, Rosalind (also played by Swinton), on a birthday getaway to a remote Welsh hotel that was once Rosalind’s childhood home.

Julie aims to “share some time with her now-widowed mother before it’s too late, but she is also working on a movie project about her mother’s life, which she soon discovers will involve raking up some painful secrets.”

A Tribute to Ukraine: Swinton’s Bold Fashion Statement

The Joanna Hogg movie premiered Tuesday at the 79th Venice International Film Festival, where Tilda Swinton debuted her neon yellow hair color in honor of Ukraine amidst Russia’s invasion.

“It’s my honor to wear half of the Ukrainian flag,” Swinton said at the press conference for her latest project.

Interpreting the Ukrainian Flag Through Fashion

Making a political statement, the award-winning actress paired her newly dyed side-swept hair with a blue-and-white pinstripe oversized shirt with a French collar from Loewe’s Resort 2023 collection.

The Ukrainian flag is interpreted as the blue sky, which symbolizes peace, above a yellow wheat field, representing prosperity.

Swinton teamed her button-down shirt with red tracksuit pants and finished the quirky pairing with a burnt orange beaded necklace and red patent pumps.

From Sporty Chic to Evening Elegance: Swinton’s Red-Carpet Transformation

Following the photocall, the Three Thousand Years of Longing star attended the red-carpet premiere of The Eternal Daughter, where she traded her sporty outfit for an elegant lilac gown by Colombian-born French designer Haider Ackermann.

Her figure-skimming ensemble, decked in glimmering sequins, clung perfectly to her svelte frame. It features a form-fitting silhouette, long sleeves, and a short floor-sweeping train.

Complementing Styles: Swinton’s Makeup and Hair Transformation

Tilda wore her signature barely-there makeup with peachy blush and lipstick for her beauty look. She then swapped her side-swept yellow ombre tresses for a sculptural faux hawk.
