So, can somebody please explain the strange mix of frumpy and trampy dresses at the UK premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street?

Gorgeous stars and personalities showed up at the Odeon Leicester Square in London to watch one of the year’s most anticipated films, and we didn’t expect a parade of misses at the massive event. Is that perhaps a trend for 2014? We hope not. Below are dresses we hope never to see on any red carpet again.

1. Zara Martin in Shapeless Powder Blue Dress

We have no issues with vintage-inspired dresses, but TV presenter and model Zara Martin’s shapeless powder blue choice was just wrong on so many levels. Maybe if it had been shorter and cinched with a belt of silvery sequins like the ones on her collar, it could’ve escaped our weird radar.

2. Peaches Geldof in Moschino Evening Dress

If this dress is a two-piece ensemble, then, separately, they’re not bad at all. But together, it’s an embroidered, peasant-style evening dress nightmare. Why, Moschino?!

If journalist Peaches Geldof had chosen just the top and matched it with a solid-colored fitted skirt, all would’ve been well.

3. Leah Wood in Gucci Kaftan-Style Dress

Musician Leah Wood is so up there on the cool meter that we were shocked to see her pull a Florence Welsh appearance in this gold kaftan-style dress.

Don’t get us wrong, we are fans of kaftans, but this golden wonder didn’t have a place on a red carpet premiere in the early weeks of January.

4. Kathryn Drysdale in Yellow Plaid Fit-and-Flare Dress

We St. Trinian’s fans love Kathryn Drysdale, but if you’ve seen her in far better outfits, you know this yellow plaid fit-and-flare dress is just one gleaming grave offense on the brilliant, gorgeous actress. Her hair and makeup look fantastic, though.

5. Daisy Lowe in Yves Saint Laurent Dress

Yes, sheer dresses are so in. But sometimes, we have to be careful with the styles we pick. Model Daisy Lowe’s lacy choice is a bit trampy, not because it’s low-cut but because the sheer element is not done well. She realized this when she decided to wear that Saint Laurent blazer jacket over it.

6. Ann Willerton in Elizabeth Emanuel Dress

Amy Willerton is a model that is easily in the sizzling category. But after the initial awe, she fizzled into our weird list because her choice of underwear with this sheer dress was great until the waist part. Again, it’s one of those dresses where the sheer element could’ve been done nicer.
