It looks like Zendaya‘s a Barbie girl in a Barbie world. Last month, the toy company Mattel announced plans to immortalize the actress with a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll.

“I’m excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices,” she shared in a statement about the one-of-a-kind Zendaya doll.

“It’s a positive message to send to my fans, including my nieces who are coming with me to the concert.”
When creating the doll, Mattel sought to replicate Zendaya’s Vivienne Westwood look on the night of the 2015 Oscars. She made headlines with her hair in dreadlocks on the red carpet.

“When I was little I couldn’t find a Barbie that looked like me, my… how times have changed,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you @barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be apart of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty. Can’t wait to keep doing amazing things with you.”

However, it’s a timely look. The actress just received her own Zendaya doll from Mattel a few weeks prior to the AMAs.
Zendaya wore a pink lace two-piece ensemble from Emanuel Ungaro’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection, which she matched with a pair of pale pink “So Kate” pumps by Christian Louboutin.

Despite the pink outfit, her Barbie doll was anything but the typical Mattel toy.

Zendaya’s doll was straight up copied from her Oscar look, in which the singer wore a white off-shoulder dress and dreadlocks.
The 19-year-old expressed her enthusiasm at the variety of representation for women on her Instagram.
