Surprise! Or Not – Sparkle, Glitter and Shine is the Theme for Shoes at the 2011 Oscars

As much as we love watching fashion in action at the Oscars, let’s face it, it’s not really the best event for us shoe lovers. The huge ball gown skirts and the floor-sweeping hemlines usually cover up celebrities’ feet, not even giving us a tiny peek of the magnificent Louboutins, Jimmy Choos or Sergio Rossis that we know are under all that fabric.

But of course, that’s not stopping us from covering the 2011 Oscars here on Your Next Shoes! Even thought it feels kinda pervy to be trying to take a peek at something that these celebs aren’t really showing, we tried our best to find out just which shoe by which designer graced the 83rd Annual Academy Awards this year.

And the results? Well, it’s no surprise really – classic and elegant sparkly, glittery and shiny dominated this year’s shoes (as they always have).

It’s all about whose star can shine the brightest at a much-awaited event like the Oscars and these celebrities did that literally:

Gwyneth Paltrow in a Calvin Klein Collection metallic dress and Brian Atwood Martina Gold Ankle Strap Platform Pumps, $685.00

Michelle Williams in a Chanel Haute Couture gown and Jimmy Choo Cosmic Platform Pumps, $795.00
