While Jessica Chastain is now celebrated for her signature ginger locks, the Oscar winner’s relationship with her hair hasn’t always been easy. In an interview with Refinery29, Chastain revealed that she was frequently ridiculed for her hair and freckles as a child.
“As a child, I didn’t want to be different,” she explained, noting that she now resists dyeing her hair to honor her individuality. Today, her vibrant red hair serves as a striking contrast to her high-fashion wardrobe, which frequently features bold color palettes and architectural footwear.
Whether she is opting for wigs to transform for a role or coordinating her natural color with designer heels, Chastain’s red-carpet appearances are a masterclass in styling. Below, we look back at two of her most iconic appearances in 2019, where her hair and shoe choices took center stage.
Emerald Couture and Crystal Accents: It: Chapter Two Premiere (August 2019)

For the premiere of her anticipated film, It: Chapter Two, held at the Regency Village Theatre, the petite American actress/producer showed off her beautiful red hair in an emerald green crystal-embellished off-the-shoulder gown from the Zuhair Murad Fall 2019 Couture collection paired with Piaget jewelry. She was styled by Elizabeth Stewart.

Architectural White and Jimmy Choo Platforms: Dark Phoenix World Premiere (June 2019)
Earlier that summer, she wore an all-white Maticevski Resort 2019 two-piece look at the premiere of Dark Phoenix at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

She styled her chic jumpsuit with Jimmy Choo Max platform shoes and Chopard earrings. Her hair was done by Los Angeles-based hairstylist Renato Campora.
Across red carpets and star-studded galas, the Jimmy Choo “Max” platform sandal has emerged as a defining silhouette in modern celebrity footwear, praised on Your Next Shoes for its vertiginous heel height, architectural platform, and unmistakable red-carpet presence.
In our in-depth look at Jimmy Choo’s towering “Max” platform sandals, the design is spotlighted as a go-to choice for celebrities seeking dramatic lift without sacrificing elegance, while Zendaya’s bold styling moment at the Met Gala is explored in Zendaya’s Versace armor-inspired look paired with Jimmy Choo “Max” heels.

Just days before the premiere, she underwent wrist surgery. The “Zero Dark Thirty” star shared some details in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel filmed on June 4.
“I had surgery on Friday,” she told the television host, who asked which cast member beat her up. “And I haven’t taken any painkillers because I’m doing press, so I’m in a really good mood right now,” she joked.
Jessica sported her simple wrist cast at the world premiere of Dark Phoenix, which looked much nicer than Mariah Carey’s designer arm sling.
