She’s been busy on the promotional trail for her new TV series, The Girl from Plainville, which premiered on Hulu on Tuesday, March 29.
The true-crime series is based on the events leading to the death of an 18-year-old boy, Conrad Roy III, and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Michelle Carter’s conviction for involuntary manslaughter.

Elle Fanning is portraying Michelle, who sent numerous text messages to Roy urging him to kill himself, despite his history of mental illness and previous attempts at self-harm.
She was initially sentenced to 2 and a half years in prison, but her sentence was later reduced to 15 months, of which she served 11 months and 12 days.
The series also stars Colton Ryan as Conrad and Chloë Sevigny as his mom, Lynn.

On Wednesday, Elle, who’s turning 24 on April 9, looked every inch the Hollywood star as she arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theatre for an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“I think that this case was a very ripped from the headlines case and ended in the most tragic way that it could. I had to make sure that everyone that was involved was really telling the story in a sensitive way because I think that it could be very easy to exploit or sensationalize a story like this,” she told Stephen Colbert about Hulu’s The Girl From Plainville series.
Channeling the ‘80s, The Great actress wore a black shirred stretch-cotton midi dress from Carolina Herrera’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection.

The slim-fit number features long sleeves with puffed shoulders, a sweetheart neckline, and a midi hem with a risky thigh-high center slit.

Styled by Samantha McMillen, the Super 8 star completed her outfit with a $38,850 emerald-cut bezel diamond choker necklace, gold stacked bracelets, and a gold ring from Anita Ko.

She wore her blonde locks in side-parted retro waves styled by Jenda Alarcon. Dakota’s sister highlighted her natural features with soft makeup, including bright pink lipstick, by makeup artist Erin Ayanian Monroe.
Completing her sleek black look was a pair of black sunnies and Stuart Weitzman’s Anny pumps.

On Tuesday, Elle Fanning was pictured heading to Live with Kelly and Ryan to promote her new series.
She couldn’t be missed in a leopard-print Rodarte twill dress, which you can get for $1,610 on Mytheresa.
The striking midi number features a V-neck with a black rose corsage on the front and dramatic short puff sleeves with a tie fastening. It also comes with a removable belt detail with the same floral applique, which Elle chose to go without.

Keeping the focus on her outfit, Elle accessorized in minimalist fashion, wearing just two gold bangles on her wrist.
She then wore her signature dewy pink makeup and parted her straightened blonde hair on one side, styled with a $48 Lelet NY Marble Bauble French Barrette.

Roger Vivier’s “I Love Vivier” pumps gave Elle’s leopard print dress a chic contrast with hot pink satin uppers. They feature a sculpted heart shape detail, pointed toes, and 3.3-inch heels.
