Olivia Wilde is making the case for relaxed, personality-driven footwear. Whether she’s pairing cowboy boots with romantic lace at Sundance or styling retro Adidas x Gucci Gazelle sneakers with off-duty looks, the actress and director rarely relies on predictable red-carpet shoe choices.

That approach continued while promoting her upcoming comedy movie, The Invite, in New York City. Wilde stepped out in a sleek Officine Générale suit that traded the usual warm-weather palette for a sharper, moodier look. Instead of finishing the tailored set with classic heels, she gave the outfit a relaxed street-style twist with Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers.

Later that day, Wilde leaned into a different side of her style at the New York screening of The Invite, pairing a romantic black-and-white Chloé ensemble with black Giuseppe Zanotti mules. Together, the two looks demonstrated her ability to move between tailoring and bohemian dressing while maintaining the same effortless approach to footwear.

The Invite, which Olivia Wilde stars in and directed, is an English-language remake of Cesc Gay’s Spanish film The People Upstairs. It also stars Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton, and is set for a limited theatrical release in the US on June 26, 2026.

Olivia Wilde Styles Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Sneakers With an Officine Générale Three-Piece Suit

Olivia Wilde dropped by Late Night with Seth Meyers in an understated all-black outfit that I honestly love for its cool, borrowed-from-the-boys energy.

Instead of styling her tailored suit with the usual heels, she gave it a laid-back twist by pairing it with black-and-white Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers.

Her sneakers combine details from the original Limber-Up training shoe from 1961 and the Limber shoe from 1966, giving them that classic retro-sport look. They feature the signature Onitsuka Tiger Stripes, suede front panels, branding on the tongue and heel tab, and an OrthoLite insole for extra cushioning. You can get these Onitsuka Tiger Mexico sneakers in a variety of different colors at Farfetch.

Wilde’s choice also taps into one of fashion’s biggest sneaker movements. The Mexico 66 has emerged as a favorite among celebrities and street-style insiders thanks to its slim profile and vintage sportswear roots, offering an alternative to bulkier sneaker trends.

We’ve seen other stars embrace the silhouette as well, including Kristen Stewart’s Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers, while the model also earned a spot in our guide to the most wearable shoe trends of 2026.

I liked how Olivia paired the sporty shoes with a three-piece black tailored suit from Officine Générale. She wore the relaxed oversized “Valerianne” blazer over the matching buttoned “Cleo” waistcoat, skipping a top underneath for a sleek, sultry finish. Her fluid wide-leg “Elia” trousers added movement, making the whole outfit look effortless.

This is not the kind of outfit I would usually reach for in summer, especially with the full black tailoring, but the loose proportions and sneakers make it look more wearable and casual.

Olivia kept her accessories simple with sleek black sunglasses, delicate stud and hoop earrings, and a few rings that added just enough sparkle against the all-black look. A black-and-white New Yorker tote bag completed her relaxed ensemble.

Olivia Wilde Wears Giuseppe Zanotti Croc-Effect Mules With a Romantic Chloé Tiered Dress

At the New York screening of The Invite, Olivia Wilde showed up in another black-and-white ensemble, this time leaning into a boho-grunge vibe that I’ve always associated with her style. She has consistently mixed romantic styling with edgier tailoring, and this look continues that blend.

Olivia slipped into a pair of open-toe mules, likely the Giuseppe Zanotti “Felicia” mules, in black crocodile-print leather. I like how the croc texture added depth while the crisscrossing front straps, peep-toe cut, and open back created a sculpted, airy silhouette that still looked sleek and refined. The pair sat on a 2-inch kitten heel, giving Wilde just enough lift.

Olivia paired the edgy mules with a romantic cream-tiered maxi dress from Chloé’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection, layered with a structured black leather bomber jacket to balance the look.

Made from wrinkled leather, the jacket featured smocked detailing at the high collar and chest, while elasticated cuffs and a fitted hem refined its silhouette.

Below, the dress’s tiered chiffon ruffles flowed into a soft, airy skirt, giving the look a light, summery feel. Sheer ruffle detailing also extended from the sleeves beneath the jacket, adding a layered effect at the arms.

Wilde carried her essentials in the $3,700 Chloé Plissé shoulder bag in pleated beige lambskin leather, which tied into the dress’s softness. Her styling stayed minimal, with hoop and stud earrings, plus a few rings for a subtle shine.

Although Wilde’s two outfits leaned in different directions—one grounded in relaxed tailoring and the other in romantic bohemian dressing—they shared a common styling approach: replacing traditional heels with more effortless footwear.

Fashion’s shift toward comfort-focused silhouettes has made both retro sneakers and low-profile mules increasingly popular on red carpets, press tours, and off-duty outings alike.

Recent examples include Anya Taylor-Joy’s black Giuseppe Zanotti “Beverlee” mules at Apple TV Press Day and Christina Aguilera’s Giuseppe Zanotti “Intriigo” mules at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, proving the backless silhouette remains a favorite among celebrities. Wilde’s latest appearances combined both trends, pairing retro sneakers and sleek mules in a way that felt effortless, modern, and unmistakably her own.
