Bottega Veneta’s roots begin in Vicenza, Italy in 1966 with founders Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro. Since its birth, the now Milan-based fashion brand has continued to set new standards for luxury.

Their most recent product release that you can buy at Nordstrom, Net-A-Porter, Saks Fifth Avenue, Matches Fashion, and Farfetch, The Quilt leather roller skates, is a perfect example of the brand’s understated elegance.

1970s-Inspired Roller Skates

These hand-crafted roller skates from Bottega Veneta are inspired by the 1970s, both in form and color. Made from beautiful lambskin, the retro high-top silhouette features four rubber wheels, a classic heel tab, and tonal laces up the front.

Priced at $2,100, you can pre-order a pair in the brand’s signature “grass,” “cobalt, “sea salt,” or “pink.” All four colorways have a gum-rubber sole and a metal plate that runs underneath to secure the wheels and toe stopper.

If the skate looks familiar, you have a good eye. These skates are based on a pair of shoes that debuted in FW21 for the brand. And just like all other products by this fashion house, there is no branding on the exterior of the skates.

By using premium materials and their distinct color palette, Bottega Veneta communicates their brand in the subtle manner they’re known for. Only those “in the know” will recognize what you’re wearing. The roller skates have branding just on the leather insoles.

“Only signed by the way it’s made”

Bottega Veneta is one of the only major fashion houses not to have a flashy logo. Excellent craftsmanship is their “logo.”

The brand’s former creative director, Tomas Maier, once said, “I felt there was a need for a product for people who didn’t like logos, so what we did to start was going back to the essence of the brand: the soft Nappa leather, the signature weave, and a bag that is only signed by the way it’s made.”

This Italian fashion house is defined by its refined attitude, continual innovation, and timeless pieces. They were first known for their leather goods, and have since branched out into all things ready-to-wear for men and women, along with shoes, handbags, accessories, home, and fragrances.

The Intrecciato, or leather weaving, is the iconic and signature look for this fashion house. This means their products are immediately recognizable. Because this weaving is so distinct, the house’s logo only appears discreetly on the inside of its products.

Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta

In 2001, Bottega Veneta was purchased by the Gucci Group, and today it is a subsidiary of Kering. Kering appointed Daniel Lee as the brand’s new creative director in June of 2018. Before joining Bottega Veneta, Lee was the director of Celine’s ready-to-wear collection.

Lee’s creation, the Pouch clutch bag became the fastest-selling bag in the brand’s history. He has continued the brand’s commitment to simple, beautifully crafted, and logo-less products.

The “it” bag took the world by storm at a time many believed an “it” bag no longer existed. It is a squishy, oversized clutch made of leather that is soft as butter.

The Pouch bag has no strap and resembles a dumpling in shape. Rihanna and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are just a couple of celebrities who carry this bag. We can’t wait to see what Daniel Lee creates next.
