Having “no boobs and a nose that goes that way,” Cat Deeley never believed she would succeed in the United States. Nevertheless, the sought-after TV personality defied expectations and found success living and working in Hollywood for over a decade.

Staying True to Herself Amidst Hollywood Pressures

When she landed the host role on So You Think You Can Dance in 2006, Cat was advised to undergo plastic surgery to fix her nose, but she refused to comply.

Embracing Uniqueness in the Face of Criticism

In a May 2021 interview with The Telegraph’s Stella magazine, Cat admitted that she had doubts about her appearance and thought it would prevent her from “cracking” America.

“I never thought I was going to make it in America, even in my wildest dreams,” she said. “I’ve still got no boobs and my nose goes that way. When it comes to stuff like that, you’re asking the wrong woman.”

The Power of Naivety and Focus

Despite her initial concerns, Cat persevered and focused on practicalities like obtaining her US driver’s license and finding a place to live.

Looking back on her success, Cat acknowledged that her naivety had been beneficial in helping her stay grounded. “Naivety was really beneficial. I was concentrating on practicalities rather than thinking, ‘Oh my goodness, so and so is in the room,'” she said.

Rejecting Cosmetic Alterations for Authenticity

“I know! It’s crooked. It bends this way,” Deeley told Yahoo Style’s Nick Axelrod in an episode of I Yahoo’d Myself in 2015.

“No one even noticed my nose when I was on screen in the UK and the minute I came to the US it was like, ‘She should totally put her nose straight!’ and I was like, ‘That is the least of my worries!’”

Cat Deeley Reveals Son’s Name After Six Months, Explains Reason for Secrecy

In August 2016, it had been six months since Cat Deeley gave birth to her first child, but the press didn’t catch wind of her son’s name until she sneakily announced it at the Teen Choice Awards.

Cat was photographed on the red carpet wearing a necklace that said “Milo,” revealing that it was her son’s name.

Cat told everyone why she decided to keep her son’s name under lock for half a year at the Fox TCA summer press tour held in Los Angeles.

While the television host opted to wear a bird-printed Monique Lhuillier dress with metallic sandals earlier that day, she later switched to a more structured (but still dainty) tweed dress from Gucci.

Cat finished her evening look by accentuating her height with a pair of Jimmy Choo “Mystic” pumps in black and white.

Cat said she wasn’t trying to be conniving by keeping her son’s name under wraps but only did so out of respect for their family.

Since her husband’s family is Irish, she felt it would not be proper to announce her son’s name without her in-laws in Ireland having met her son.

Her discreet announcement at the Teen Choice Awards occurred shortly after Cat and her husband returned from a trip to their in-laws. The Jimmy Choo “Mystic” pumps are already sold out, but you can check out a similar pair from Derek Lam at Farfetch.
