Just late last year, Karl Lagerfeld caused another stir in the fashion world with the Chanel “Hula Hoop” bag, showcased at the spring/summer 2013 show.

Initially, this bag was the size of an actual hula hoop and was created just for the runway show and not for actual production and selling. But thanks to the ruckus it caused, the brand eventually relented to having it produced for actual selling, but they have scaled the size down to just 24 centimeters across, and it retails for $2,400.
It seems like this bag is slowly making its way into the hands of some celebrities, including 16-year-old Kick-Ass actress Chloë Grace Moretz. Chloë was in London earlier this week to do some promotions for Kick-Ass 2 and was spotted displaying her red Chanel Hula Hoop handbag.

She rocked crystal-button skinny jeans from Christopher Kane with a clef lace t-shirt from the same designer. Her look was completed with Chanel Spring 2013 ankle-strap pumps.
There are still many mixed reactions and feelings toward this high-end designer novelty, even more so when people hear the whopping selling price. But what are your thoughts on this item? Is it a total must-have or a complete waste of money?
Here’s a closeup of Chloë’s Hula Hoop handbag; you can decide if you’re experiencing some bag envy with this controversial designer piece:
