Donning a stunning grape-printed Balmain gown, Cynthia Erivo brought fruitcore glamour to the 2024 Gold Gala red carpet, where her Wicked co-star Michelle Yeoh and director Jon M. Chu presented her with the Gold Ally Honor.
I’ve always admired Cynthia Erivo’s daring approach to red-carpet dressing, and her most recent look further solidified her status as a major player in the fashion world.

The 3rd Annual Gold Gala, presented by Gold House, honors the achievements of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in Hollywood, sports, business, and other industries. Erivo was recognized alongside stars like Lucy Liu, Saweetie, Dev Patel, Keanu Reeves, and others who made it to Gold House’s A100 List of individuals who had “the most impact on culture and society over the past year.”
Embracing Fruitcore Aesthetic
Cynthia Erivo is a fearless dresser who never backs down from striking hues, motifs, and unconventional silhouettes. Her 2024 Gold Gala ensemble, selected by stylist Jason Bolden, wonderfully captures her fearless style.
The dress from Balmain’s Fall 2024 collection has a strikingly distinct bodice and skirt that create the illusion of a two-piece look.

The top half, cut from luxurious black velvet, clings well to her toned figure. It has a high neck, long sleeves, and structured padded shoulders with three gold-tone snail shells that were heavily featured on the French luxury fashion house’s Fall 2024 runway.
The bottom half, meanwhile, consists of a white maxi skirt patterned with a green grape motif. I genuinely adore the summery feeling that the design and color bring. In addition, it has an asymmetric wrap-style effect at the waist, creating large pleats that cascade to her ankles.
I like how the ensemble creates a contrasting impact; the top exudes a sophisticated appearance, while the bottom provides a whimsical touch.

Maximalist Accessories
Making a strong case for maximalism, Cynthia, known for her love of jewelry, styled her already bustling ensemble with statement accessories.
I appreciate that she decided to forego a necklace in favor of striking rings and earrings. She wore a large pair of hammered gold hoops with a pearl accent and several tiny stud and hoop earrings on her ears.
Her statement rings featured a big dome-shaped ring, a diamond band, and a ring set with a gemstone. She also had a double-hoop nose ring fastened to her septum, which I do not like.
Jason Bolden, whose clientele includes Nicole Kidman, Sabrina Carpenter, Storm Reid, and Vanessa Hudgens, put together Erivo’s evening gala outfit.

I’m just glad they finished the ensemble with a simple pair of black heels, which brings everything together.
She wore black suede sandals with peep-toes that showcased her pink pedicure. They are attached to her ankles with slim buckled ankle straps, have thick platforms, and have tall stiletto heels that boost her petite 5’1” height.

Cynthia Erivo’s Glam and Nails
The Luther: The Fallen Sun star opted to keep her beauty look minimalist, accentuating her eyes with smokey eyeshadow, eyeliner, and fake fluttery eyelashes. She added color to her cheeks and finished the glam with mauve lipstick.
Known for her love of nail art, Erivo donned the same sparkling acrylic nails she wore to the 2024 Met Gala: two nails have dried beetles and succulents, while the rest have rose petals and gold flakes.
Nail artist Rose Hackle created the earth element-inspired nails using products from OPI, including the GelColor Stay Strong Base Coat, the GelColor in Midnight Snacc, Bubble Bath, and Black Onyx, and the GelColor Stay Shiny Top Coat.

Exuding Power in a Tuxedo Gown at the Met Gala
At a Saks Fifth Avenue event in 2021, Erivo shared that she wears “whatever feels good” and is “not afraid to try new things, new shapes, bright colors, different fabrics, and combinations.”
Her recent red carpet fashion selections, like her two-piece tuxedo ensemble at the 2024 Met Gala, clearly reflect this.
She exuded power and confidence in the custom Thom Browne creation, which included a tailored jacket and a skirt with a dramatic train cut from black silk faille with silk satin lacing.

In keeping with this year’s The Garden of Time dress code, the two-piece ensemble was adorned with black sequin and lurex embroidery topped with 2,000 individually embroidered pink silk moire petals and 3D beaded insects, including grasshoppers, cockroaches, and butterflies.
I adore how meticulous the ensemble is in addition to the girl boss vibe that her cropped jacket, pique white shirt, and black silk satin tie provide.
As usual, Erivo dressed up the look further by adding diamond rings, flowery ear cuffs and studs, and a diamond septum ring. A pair of black patent leather brogues with extended wingtips, thick platforms, and sky-high heels rounded out her Met Gala outfit.
