Nina Dobrev, who played Elena for six seasons on The CW’s bloodsucker drama, returned to The Vampire Diaries for its finale series that concluded on March 10, 2017. She also did a voiceover for the seventh-season finale.

In addition to portraying Elena Gilbert, Nina played the role of Elena’s doppelgänger Katherine Petrova. Also known as Katherine Pierce, she is a witch of the Traveler sub-culture, the second-known Petrova Doppelgänger of Amara, and a former vampire.

While Katherine Pierce (born Katerina Petrova) was German in the popular book series of the same name written by L. J. Smith that you can buy on Amazon, she is Bulgarian in the TV series. Nina Dobrev speaks fluent Bulgarian.

In addition to portraying Elena and Katerina Petrova, Nina played the progenitor of a line of doppelgängers, Amara, and Silas’s illusion of Elena.

She was also cast as Petrova’s doppelgänger Tatia Petrova in The Originals, a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries that finished on August 1, 2018.

“The first episode was just a couple flashbacks, and then they introduced her more and more, so I got to figure her out over the first season, and then season 2, once she was back and in the flesh and she was in a lot more of the episodes, it was crazy schedule-wise shooting both of the roles,” Dobrev told EW about playing present-day Katherine and Elena in The Vampire Diaries.

“I remember carrying around two separate scripts — one for each character — because I had to break down what Elena was going through in that episode and what her intentions were, and then having a separate script for what Katherine wanted out of every scene and circumstance,” Dobrev added about playing many scenes as Elena and Katherine with a stand-in.

“It was really challenging but really fun. And like Julie mentioned, exhausting at times.” She referenced Julie Plec, who co-created The Vampire Diaries with Kevin Williamson.

Victoria Justice’s lookalike rarely disappoints on the red carpet, and the 2015 American Music Awards were no exception.

At the AMAs in November 2015, Nina wowed in a three-piece look from Zuhair Murad’s resort 2016 collection.

The then-26-year-old actress looked gorgeous in the white ensemble, which was comprised of a strapless floral-sequined crop top, a matching jacket draped over her shoulders, and a floor-length skirt with a thigh-high slit.

To further the elegance of the outfit, Nina accessorized with a John Hardy ring and a pair of sparkling drop earrings.

We would have paired simple white sandals with her look, but Nina chose the slightly-distracting black-and-white Rene Caovilla caged pumps.

They feature a caged upper with crystal-embellished straps, pointed toes, adjustable ankle straps, and four-inch heels.
