It seems Elle Fanning is sticking to her signature sweet and ethereal style aesthetic.
After surprising us in a revealing Balmain sculptural chain-link top at the InStyle Awards in November, the 23-year-old actress hit the red carpet in her typical modern-day Disney princess look.
Looking straight out of a fairytale, Elle graced the 27th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards red carpet in a custom ball gown by Oscar de la Renta.

The Super 8 star was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her Hulu satirical comedy-drama, The Great, but lost to Jean Smart for HBO Max’s Hacks.
Elle’s ‘50s-style champagne-colored gown features an all-over sequin detailing with tonal floral accents. It also has a strapless neckline, an open back, a cinched waist, and a voluminous skirt with sheer trims on the hem.

Stylist Samantha McMillen kept the rest of Elle’s look simple, allowing her fit-and-flare gown to take center stage.
She accessorized with a pair of Chanel Bouton De Camelia earrings, a gold ring, and a $25,500 Van Cleef & Arpels Retro diamond watch.
Hairstylist Jenda Alcorn styled Elle’s tresses into a slicked-back ponytail with wavy ends while makeup artist Erin Monroe amped up the glamour with winged eyeliner and a swipe of L’oreal Retro Red lipstick.

The Maleficent star carried her essentials in a $1,600 Tyler Ellis “Aimee” white satin clutch and slipped her feet into a pair of coordinating pumps by Jimmy Choo that you can buy at Mytheresa.

The classic “Romy” pumps are fashioned in soft satin ivory upper with a subtly pointed toe and a 4-inch slim heel.

A few days later, Elle shared with her Instagram followers a bathroom photo of her sitting on the toilet while clad in her golden gown. She captioned the post: “The Golden Throne”.
