Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are one of Hollywood’s most private couples.
The two have been together since 2011 and welcomed two daughters, but have always kept their relationship out of the public eye.

Recently, the 49-year-old actress took to Instagram to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her and Gosling’s 2012 movie, The Place Beyond the Pines.
In the post, she shared a video from the film and gushed about her on-screen connection with her partner, even though the couple prefers to keep their personal lives private.
Mendes wrote “Magic is Real” and revealed that she and Gosling had met before filming the movie.

She clarified that their connection had already started before working together and shared a glimpse of their on-screen magic while giving a shout-out to the film’s director Derek Cianfrance.
The 2 Fast 2 Furious actress added, “We did not meet on set. The magic started way before, but here’s a little magic captured on camera.”
In the post, Mendes explained why she and Gosling don’t walk red carpets together when a commenter expressed their desire to see her and the Drive actor promoting his upcoming movie, Barbie, during awards season.
However, the actress responded by explaining that she “only feels comfortable posting” pictures of them together when it is already available publicly.

Mendes appreciated the comment, “You’re the best! What a cool comment, thank you,” but clarified that she and Gosling don’t usually appear together in public events.
She continued, “But we don’t do those things together. Like these photos I’ve been posting, Im only comfortable posting because it’s already out there. ♥️.”
The actress later said, “Oh wait – for those who may catch me in a ‘lie’ — we only were on the red carpet together once when promoting this film 🖤,” after recalling that she had posed with Gosling for The Place Beyond the Pines in 2012 on the red carpet.
Another fan had asked why the couple doesn’t feel at ease doing so, to which Mendes answered, “By ‘not comfortable,’ I mean exposing our very private life that we value. I’m still dying to do another movie with him though…”

On Wednesday, the actress took to Instagram to share a series of throwback photos from her movie, The Place Beyond the Pines, featuring her co-star and partner, Ryan Gosling.
She captioned the post with “🖤Luke & Romina🖤,” referring to their characters in the film, and included shots of the couple hugging and posing with a baby who played their on-screen son, Jason.
Mendes added, “Mi socia @scondito just sent me this telling me it’s been 10 years since this film came out. Feels like lifetimes ago.”
The couple began dating after the movie’s filming in 2011 and went on their first public date at Disneyland’s California Adventure Park later that year.

Since then, they have been going strong and have welcomed two daughters: Esmeralda Amada Gosling, born on September 12, 2014, and Amada Lee Gosling, born on April 29, 2016.
Although the couple has always been tight-lipped about their relationship, Mendes surprised fans by referring to Gosling as her “husband” for the first time publicly during a November 2022 interview with Australia’s Channel Nine’s Today to promote her charitable work.
However, in a different discussion on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, she later explained that she likes to keep her love life “mysterious.”

Around the same time, Mendes got a new tattoo which caused fans to speculate about her marriage to Gosling. The tattoo, which read “de Gosling,” was interpreted by fans as meaning “of Gosling,” leading to rumors that the couple had secretly tied the knot.
Mendes and Gosling have collaborated on two films, including Lost River, which served as the actor’s directorial debut, and The Place Beyond the Pines.
The actress stopped acting in 2014 to focus on raising their two children but returned in 2021 by lending her voice to a character in the popular children’s show Bluey.
