New Year, new hair! Karlie Kloss recently ditched her signature blonde mane for “expensive brunette”—the brown hair color trend that’s taking over Hollywood.
Although it’s named as such, this trending low-maintenance hair color has nothing to do with the price tag; rather, it’s “all about adding detail and interest with multiple deeper shades to make the result more dimensional and expensive-looking,” celebrity hairstylist Tom Smith told Glamour.
The 29-year-old model took to Instagram to share with her followers a series of photos of her new hair color. Looking fresh in brown hair, Karlie captioned her post, “after a decade of being a blonde, I finally crossed over to the dark side.”

Tangle Tweeze ambassador Liam Curran spoke to Pop Sugar about the trending expensive brunette hair color, saying it’s “all about a luxe feel, focusing on dimension, shine, and hair health.”
“For years, blondes have experienced beautiful blends of light tones, and now brunettes want the same experience. Mixing numerous different shades and finishing with luxe toners not only inject beautiful colors but add beautiful shine too,” he added.

Letting her new darker ‘do flow in the wind, Karlie showcased her fashion prowess in a simple but chic winter outfit while out and about in New York City on Thursday.
Opting for the classics, the mom-of-one paired a black turtleneck long-sleeved sweater with blue straight-leg jeans. She then elevated the look by layering a sleek Alberta Ferretti olive coat over her casual ensemble.

Keeping a coordinated look, Joshua Kushner’s wife teamed her outfit with black suede loafers. She further styled with gold jewelry that included a pair of hoop earrings and a chain bracelet.
Beauty-wise, Karlie wore minimal makeup and covered her eyes with Prada Symbole rectangular sunglasses in tortoise acetate.
Later, she was pictured carrying a printed Dior Book tote, which remains one of the most popular handbags among women today.
