The first major awards show of the season has officially wrapped, and the Golden Globes offered an early look at how stars are approaching red carpet style this year.
One thing was clear: shoes mattered. From delicate strappy heels to crystal-accented designs and a few statement pairs, footwear played a quiet but important role.

- 13. From Awards Season to 2026: The Shoe Trends to Watch
As always, the red carpet was a mix of hits and misses. A-listers and rising stars arrived in glamorous gowns—some underwhelming, others breathtaking. That contrast is part of what makes awards season interesting, and this year was no exception.
Minimalist styling clearly dominated, and it showed in the shoes too—mostly metallic and black styles, updated with fresh silhouettes or subtle details that kept everything polished and modern.

The wins themselves went toward expected favorites. In film, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and KPop Demon Hunters won Best Motion Picture in Drama, Musical or Comedy, and Animated categories, respectively. Wagner Moura took home Best Male Actor in a Drama for The Secret Agent, while Jessie Buckley won Best Female Actor in a Drama for Hamnet. In the Musical or Comedy category, Timothée Chalamet won for Marty Supreme, and Rose Byrne earned Best Actress for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. One Battle After Another led the night with four wins.
In television, Adolescence dominated with four awards, including Best Limited Series and acting wins for Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty. The Pitt won Best Drama Series, with Noah Wyle earning Best Male Actor in a TV Drama.
Let’s take a look at some of the most striking shoes of the evening.
Jennifer Garner’s Roger Vivier “Rose Vivier” Pumps Steal the Show With a Crystal Cong Tri Gown
Jennifer Garner returned to the Golden Globes red carpet after 13 years, stepping out in a sleek, all-black look. Though she didn’t go for a flashy pair of heels, her shoes were one of my favorites of the night.
At first glance, her black pumps looked classic, but a closer look revealed their romantic side. She wore Roger Vivier’s “Rose Vivier” pumps in black satin, finished with a sculpted rosebud at the vamp.
That single detail softened the sharp, classic silhouette, striking a balance between tradition and romance. Adding contrast were tiny thorn-like accents along the outer topline and lacquered heel, which kept the design from feeling too sweet.
The version with the pink rosebud would’ve added a subtle pop of color against all that black. Its navy velvet version is available at Mytheresa for $1,765.

Garner teamed her shoes with a custom black Cong Tri column gown, which reportedly took 1,300 hours to hand-embroider with 330,000 crystal beads. The dress featured a clean, timeless silhouette, finished with a tiered, fringed skirt that added movement as she walked.
She finished the look with Boucheron jewelry, including the Banquise ring, Plume de Paon large ring, and Vendôme earrings, adding just the right amount of sparkle. Jennifer later joined Amanda Seyfried to present the Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture award.

Dakota Fanning’s Gold-Nude Satin Sandals Complement Her Crystal Vivienne Westwood Champagne Gown
Dakota Fanning looked effortlessly timeless on the red carpet, and I loved how every element of her look felt cohesive from head to toe. She wore timeless, straightforward gold-nude satin heels with just enough sheen to feel polished and refined.
They featured a delicate ankle strap and a strap across the open toe, keeping the design clean, while the stiletto heel added height and elegance.

Fanning paired them with a custom Vivienne Westwood gown in champagne, and I found the harmony between the dress and the shoes beautiful. The gown shimmered softly with crystals, giving it that old-Hollywood glow.
It featured a draped scoop neckline that dipped gently across the bodice and extended into an off-the-shoulder strap on one side.
The corseted bodice accentuated her waist, while soft gathering at the hip flowed into a long skirt with a thigh-high slit and a short sweeping train. Her Fred Leighton tennis necklace added another layer of sparkle, tying the whole look together.
Dakota’s Peacock series All Her Fault was nominated for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television. She also presented the awards for Best Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama, which went to Rhea Seehorn, and for Best Television Series – Drama, which went to The Pitt.

Jennifer Lawrence Goes Soft & Daring in Powder-Pink Givenchy Slingback Sandals and a Sheer Floral Gown
Jennifer Lawrence struck a beautiful balance between sweet and daring at the ceremony, where she was nominated for Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Die My Love. I liked how her look leaned into romance while still pushing boundaries in a way only she can.
J.Law wore powder-pink satin sandals with open toes and a buckled slingback strap. The soft pink shade blended naturally with the rest of the look, keeping everything cohesive, while the high block heels added height.

These sandals paired beautifully with her sheer Givenchy gown, designed by Sarah Burton. The dress was covered in delicate pink and green floral embroidery, with subtle sequins adding a soft shimmer. Florals were strategically placed to provide coverage while still maintaining a daring look.
Side cutouts highlighted J.Law’s midsection, while the plunging V-neckline with thin shoulder straps added to its sensual feel. As she walked, the sheer skirt moved lightly around her legs, giving her an airy, goddess-like presence on the carpet.
Jennifer finished her look with a satin-collar bomber jacket, draped over her arms like a shawl. It added contrast and texture while still tying in with the gown!
Her long blonde hair fell in soft waves, with one side swept over her shoulder, adding to the dreamy feel. For extra sparkles, she accessorized with Swarovski Eternity Halo stud earrings, a custom Swarovski tennis necklace with an octagon-cut diamond at the center, a Yi Collection Pyramid Large ring, her Alison Lou custom engagement ring, and a Longines vintage diamond-set cocktail bracelet watch.

Teyana Taylor Makes a Statement in Sculptural Black Satin Platform Pumps With a Schiaparelli Cutout Bustier Dress
Before even taking home her first-ever Golden Globe—winning Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture for One Battle After Another, Teyana Taylor had already won us over on the red carpet.
She stepped out in black satin platform pumps that were anything but basic. Though we didn’t get a full look at her footwear, I could tell they were statement shoes. The shape was bold and architectural, with sharp pointed toes, thick angular platforms, rounded vamps, and towering stiletto heels.
They have that strong, sculptural quality that instantly lifts an outfit!

Teyana’s heels paired seamlessly with her custom Schiaparelli bustier gown. It was pure drama, made of glossy black satin. The bodice featured a striking diagonal cutout that drew the eye, while the ruched scarf neckline wrapped around her neck and flowed down her back like a cape.
The ruched fabric clung to her frame from the waist to the hips, then fell into a long, sweeping skirt. It was fluid, sensual, and powerful altogether!
Just when I thought the front had done enough, the back revealed another bold detail. A cutout at the lower back exposed a silver rhinestone bijou thong, finished with a playful bow. It was unexpected, daring, and very Teyana.
She went for dramatic smoky eyes with thick liner, sculpted brows, and a two-toned lip. Her pixie cut was styled in retro-inspired curls, adding contrast to the modern gown. Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including earrings, a bangle, and rings, added just the right amount of sparkle to the look.

Amanda Seyfried’s Silver Roger Vivier “Marlene” Sandals Shine Against a White Versace Column Gown
Amanda Seyfried may not have won, even as a double nominee for The Testament of Ann Lee and Long Bright River, but she was undeniably one of the night’s best dressed. Her white-and-silver look was polished, elegant, and perfectly in line with Pantone’s Color of the Year, Cloud Dancer.
What immediately caught my attention were her shoes. She wore Roger Vivier’s “Marlene” sandals in metallic silver, and the color alone was striking against the soft white of her gown.
At first glance, the design looked classic, with slim toe straps, delicate ankle straps, and slender stiletto heels. But the tiny details made all the difference. The insole featured a bold red heart motif, which was playful and unexpected, while the rectangular buckle was encrusted with crystals. Even the heels were finished with a crystal bouclé, resembling a disco ball, adding a soft touch of sparkle.

Amanda paired the sandals with a custom white Versace gown that looked stunning on her. It had a strapless sweetheart neckline and a ruched bodice that beautifully highlighted her waist, while the draped skirt created a long, flattering line. I loved the addition of the sash, which she wore over her arm, giving the look a slightly retro, regal touch.
That vintage feel carried through to her beauty look. Her hair was styled in a side-parted ballerina bun, finished with a soft wave framing one side of her face. She completed the look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including Cluster Diamond earrings, a diamond ring, and a standout necklace from the Blue Book 2025 collection.

Jessie Buckley Wins in Icy Blue Jimmy Choo “Love” Pumps and a Draped Dior Gown
Jessie Buckley stood out on the red carpet in a head-to-toe icy blue ensemble, a look that felt just as memorable as her Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama win later that night.
She wore Jimmy Choo’s “Love” pumps in a cool, icy blue, with sharply pointed toes that made her legs look even longer. The high vamp gave the shoes a clean, elegant line, while the slim stiletto heels kept them classic. They also featured a small gold JC logo at the heel, which added just a hint of polish. These pumps were pretty simple, but exactly right for the look.
They’re on sale for $542 (from $775) at Mytheresa.

Buckley’s gown, designed by Jonathan Anderson for Dior, was just as interesting. It actually looked like a soft satin wrap or blanket draped around her body. The shape was loose and unstructured, which isn’t easy to pull off. It sat off one shoulder, with a wide strap crossing her body before extending into a long, soft drape that fell down her back.
The satin fabric had a gentle sheen and a tonal floral pattern that reminded me a bit of a modern qipao.
Buckley finished the look with pink diamond jewelry by Martin Katz, including Desert Diamond earrings and a Pink Moval Desert Diamond ring, which added a subtle contrast and beautifully softened the cool blue palette.

Sara Foster Turns Up the Sparkle in Jimmy Choo “Saeda” Crystal-Heel Sandals and Monique Lhuillier
I have to say, I’m really enjoying the regal mood that’s been running through this year’s Golden Globes red carpet, and Sara Foster’s look was no different. She looked effortlessly elegant in her all-black ensemble, which was dramatic yet balanced, with every detail working together.
I was pleased that her shoes were clearly on display, because they were too beautiful to miss. She wore the Jimmy Choo “Saeda” sandals, which blur the line between footwear and jewelry. Made in Italy, the sandals featured square open toes and a crystal-encrusted ankle strap, accented by a single crystal chain hanging at the side.
The design was already striking, but it didn’t stop there. Crystals cascaded down the slim 4-inch heels, adding extra sparkle! Priced at $755 at Farfetch, they were worth showing off, and I’m glad they weren’t hidden beneath layers of fabric.

Sara paired the sandals with a striking gown from Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2026 collection. The plunging sweetheart neckline was bold without being tacky, while the fitted bodice flowed into a sheer maxi skirt that moved effortlessly as she walked. A thigh-high slit brought in drama and emphasized her long, slender legs!
One of my favorite details was the sheer, cape-like panel that draped from her right shoulder across to the left, creating an off-the-shoulder effect that extended all the way to the floor.
Sara finished the look with a tennis necklace and earrings by Jennifer Meyer. While I might have loved a sleek bun to highlight the neckline, her side-parted, Old Hollywood waves still worked beautifully with the overall look.

Erin Foster Keeps It Minimal in Strappy Black Sandals With a Velvet Galvan “Avedon” Dress
Sara’s sister, Erin Foster, also chose black for the evening, but her look felt softer and more understated. I loved how she went in a different direction, which was less regal and more relaxed, while still looking just as striking.
Instead of classic evening heels, she opted for open-toe sandals with thin, rope-like straps crisscrossing over the foot. They felt somewhat casual, adding a playful contrast to the gown’s sleekness.

Erin paired the sandals with the Galvan London “Avedon” dress in black velvet, and the fabric alone made it feel luxurious. The gown skimmed her frame beautifully, with a softly draped neckline that felt relaxed and elegant.
At the back, a low-cut design added just enough sultry drama. What really elevated the look were the off-white silk satin shoulder straps accented with luminous galvanized globes. They stood out against the black velvet, adding contrast and visual interest, and cascaded down the back, creating gentle movement as she walked.
Erin kept her accessories minimal, wearing just simple earrings and a ring. Her makeup stayed soft and fresh with pink tones, and her hair was swept to the side, with loose waves falling down her back.

Nikki Glaser Brings Fairytale Pink in Jimmy Choo “Brigitte” Pumps and a Zuhair Murad Gown
Nikki Glaser returned as host for the 2026 Golden Globes, and this was my favorite red carpet look from her all night. Pink suits her so well, and the entire look was fun yet polished.
She slipped into the pink satin “Brigitte” pumps by Jimmy Choo, and they were anything but ordinary. While they had the classic pointed toe and slim stiletto heel, the minimal details made them stand out. They boasted scalloped sides and a half d’Orsay cut that revealed the curve of the foot, while the squared vamp and tonal cap toe added another layer of visual interest.
The soft satin finish gave the shoes a refined feel. Paired with her pink gown, they blended seamlessly, as if they were designed to go hand in hand.

Glaser wore a blush-pink satin Zuhair Murad gown from the brand’s Ready-to-Wear 2026 collection. It had a strapless sweetheart neckline with sculpted bra cups, a corseted wrap-style bodice that cinched her waist, and a skirt with a high slit. Ruching added texture before the dress opened into a full, voluminous skirt, giving the gown a fairytale-like feel.
Nikki completed her Golden Globes red carpet outfit with David Yurman jewelry, including long pearl drop earrings and a ring, and carried a crystal-encrusted pink Judith Leiber clutch.

Ana de Armas Keeps It Sleek in Black Platform Sandals With a Beaded Louis Vuitton Gown
Ana de Armas looked like the embodiment of sultry elegance in her custom black gown by Louis Vuitton, a natural choice given her role as a house ambassador since 2023.
She kept her footwear simple, opting for black satin platform sandals. The design featured a wide strap across the toes and a slim ankle strap, keeping the look clean and unfussy.
The platforms and tall heels added height, while their understated silhouette balanced the dress’s heavy crystal detailing.

Ana’s bespoke Louis Vuitton dress was covered in shimmering crystal beads and sequins, but I loved how the shine stayed soft and low-key, making the whole look feel elegant. The silhouette was sleek and timeless, falling beautifully over her slender frame.
It featured a plunging scalloped neckline with delicate lace inserts, held in place by thin spaghetti straps. The bodice fit snugly through the waist and hips, then fell into a straight skirt with a scallop-trimmed slit.
De Armas completed her look with Louis Vuitton jewelry, including Empreinte earrings and a diamond necklace that sat perfectly at her collarbone, adding extra sparkle.

Miley Cyrus Goes Full Glam in Saint Laurent “Debbie” Sandals and a Black Sequin Saint Laurent Dress
Miley Cyrus has never been one to play it safe on the red carpet, and her Golden Globes look was no exception. She brought her signature sense of high-fashion drama to the red carpet, wearing a bold black ensemble that was hard to ignore.
She slipped into the Saint Laurent “Debbie” sandals, a classic choice that complemented her all-black outfit.
The squared toes and crisscross straps across the front kept the design sharp and modern, while the ankle straps and covered stiletto heels added height and structure. They were understated, which was the right choice given how detailed and dramatic the gown was.

Her custom Saint Laurent long-sleeved dress by Anthony Vaccarello was covered head to toe in black sequins, shimmering subtly as she moved. I loved the fit on her, but what really caught my eye was the bodice. The plunging neckline was framed by sculptural, pleated fabric that fanned out from her shoulders, creating a structured, armor-like shape.
Miley finished the look with her signature edge. Her Saint Laurent cat-eye sunglasses added attitude, while her Tiffany & Co. jewelry brought in serious luxury. The emerald pendant necklace was impossible to miss, and paired with diamond studs and statement rings, it beautifully balanced the dress’s darkness.
Cyrus was nominated for Best Original Song for Dream as One, written alongside Andrew Wyatt, Mark Ronson, and Simon Franglen for Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Audrey Nuna Brings Theatrical Edge in Thom Browne Platform Longwing Brogues (Head-to-Toe Thom Browne)
Audrey Nuna, who took home the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for KPop Demon Hunters’ Golden, delivered one of the most theatrical looks I saw on the carpet all night. It definitely felt theatrical, like she walked straight out of a dark fantasy world, but what made it work for me was how confidently she wore it.
Nuna wore the Thom Browne longwing brogues in black and white, with classic wingtip, perforations, and pinked edges.
The shoes kept their classic brogue details, but the thick platforms and towering block heels gave the shoes a bold, rebellious feel. They looked tough yet unexpectedly elegant, adding weight and attitude to the outfit.

Audrey paired them with a matching Thom Browne ensemble, consisting of a black silk moiré cape draped dramatically over her frame. It was punctuated by oversized white silk satin bows at the neckline and hem, which added a playful contrast to the black fabric. Beneath it, she wore a gathered white cashmere hobble dress with a high collar, cuffs, and hem.
Her styling took the drama up a notch. She wore her hair in braided buns and added a netted veil that partially covered her face, giving the ensemble a dark, moody feel. A deep black lip sharpened the look, while Messika diamond earrings and rings added just enough sparkle to keep it red-carpet ready.
