Gwen Stefani’s longtime colorist, Danilo Dixon, told Refinery29 in 2017 that he refreshes her iconic platinum shade every week using a custom, bleach-free formula.

“Gwen’s an Italian girl with naturally wavy brown hair,” he said, referencing her look in the Cool music video. “I wanted to achieve that perfect blond while keeping her hair healthy, so I developed a high-lift formula instead of relying on bleach.”

His favorite compliment? “People say, ‘That’s not natural,’ and I tell them, ‘Of course it is — it’s supernatural.’”

The then mom-of-two wore a chic ensemble out for breakfast in Sherman Oaks, including a sleek tailored coat over a printed shirtdress and a pair of leather skinnies.

She finished the outfit with lace-up boots from her fashion line, L.A.M.B. The shoes look like Dr. Martens, but are less bulky and feature 5-inch heels.

The shafts of these boots are about 4.5 inches tall, so they end just slightly above the ankles. The rubber platforms are about 0.75 inches thick, which means these boots are a little steep.

The same month, Gwen was spotted in another pair of chunky boots, styled with her maternity wear. The singer wore a pair of AllSaints booties with a denim jumpsuit, a black coat, large sunglasses, and a patterned shoulder bag.
