Jenna Ortega has been serving a number of trendsetting looks, and her latest ensemble for the Saint Laurent Fall 2023 menswear show in Paris was no different.
The Wednesday star donned a daring black gown featuring a backless design to attend the show. The Latina actress paid tribute to her character’s gothic style in the slinky black designer dress that showed off a wrap neckline and hood.

Ortega is one of several celebrities like Margot Robbie, Natalie Bryant, and Katie Holmes to catch on to the hooded dress trend.
The black dress she wore to the menswear show was designed by Saint Laurent. Saint Laurent designer Anthony Vaccarello has been reviving hooded gowns with slinky lines for the last few fashion seasons.
The classic design pays homage to the original hooded and draped capuche dresses from Yves Saint Laurent back in the 80s.

Ortega made the drapey silhouette all her own with a pair of black platform heels and accessorized with oversized gold bangles, another modern nod to the excess style of the 80s.
She completed the look with trendy “wet” bangs swept to the side. This latest hair trend creates a slick look with glistening gelled strands that complemented the drapey silhouette of the dress.
The open back and crisscross neckline made the look appear sexy and party-ready, perfect for a modern-day star like Ortega, who received a recent nod from the Golden Globes as a first-time nominee for Wednesday as best actress in a TV series, musical, or comedy.

Her stylist Enrique Melendez, who has worked with the 20-year-old on several ensembles, posted a few of Ortega’s fashion week snaps and raved, “The definition is: ‘a pleasing quality that cannot be exactly named or described’. She’s got it! Brava!!!”

The backless dress follows another much-talked-about look that Ortega donned at the Golden Globes.
The star appeared on the red carpet like a Gucci Goddess in a sweeping gown with pleated draping and tiered ruffles in a pink champagne color. Although the dress deviated from her current gothic chic looks, Ortega wowed at the Golden Globes.
When asked about her nomination, the actress had this to say: “We spent so much time on this show and worked really hard on it, so if people get any sort of joy or happy feeling from it that makes me very happy. I’ve been doing this for over a decade now, so I feel like I’ve watched Hollywood gradually open up its doors and see more Latinos and Latinas in leading roles and to be here tonight, I feel very fulfilled.”
