Combining black and navy blue together has long been regarded as a major fashion faux pas, at least according to the unofficial fashion rulebook. While the said old wives’ tale has no clear basis, some have warned against wearing such a dark color combination.
Jennifer Lawrence, who’s known to break fashion rules, has recently debunked the fashion myth and was photographed looking fabulous in a black tank top and navy blue pants while out in New York City.

Nailing summer-in-the-city style, the 33-year-old wealthy actress hit the pavement in a plain black low-cut tank top that teased a glimpse of her cleavage. She layered the basic top underneath a light blue button-down shirt, creating a breezy, warm-weather look.
The bottom half of her outfit consisted of a pair of pleated wide-leg trousers crafted from navy-blue cotton-blend by LA-based womenswear label, CO.
They’re available for $650 at Matches Fashion and feature a high pleated rise, hook-and-zip closure, and cuffed hemline.

Lawrence embodied quiet luxury, styling her low-key look with several understated opulent pieces.
She accessorized with a tennis necklace and a $1,425 Tiffany & Co. x Elsa Peretti Swirl Cuff and slung a dark khaki green Loewe “Puzzle Fold” tote bag over her right shoulder, priced at $1,990 at Mytheresa.
Instead of the usual white sneakers, J.Law gave her casual daytime outfit a corporate finish with black pointed pumps by luxury fashion house Celine.
Retailing for $890, these elegant pumps are made of black calfskin leather and feature ankle straps, pointed toes with smooth silver metal toe caps, and 2-inch straight kitten heels.

J.Law stepped out with barely there makeup and her golden tresses worn down in casual waves.
A pair of $189 Lu Goldie oversized square-frame sunnies rounded out her effortlessly cool look.
