Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York City on March 25 of this year after being accused of “strangulation, assault, and harassment.”

The 33-year-old actor has been enjoying a boost to his career after starring in a series of critically-acclaimed films and big blockbusters.

After being apprehended by the police for allegedly assaulting a woman, his career appears to be coming apart at the seams.

As reported by TMZ, the victim informed the police on March 25 that she and Majors got into a heated argument that turned violent while on their way home from a bar in Brooklyn.

According to sources, the woman “had visible injuries” such as “a laceration behind her ear,” as well as “redness and marks to her face.” The victim was taken to the hospital and is now “in stable condition.”

As for Jonathan Majors, he was immediately taken into custody as “police felt there was enough evidence for probable cause.”

However, a rep for the actor has stated that Majors “has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”

A Bad Lifetime Movie

In light of Majors’ recent legal issues, Variety has reported that “multiple alleged abuse victims of Majors have come forward following his March arrest and are cooperating with the Manhattan district attorney’s office.”

Priya Chaudhry, Majors’ attorney, released a statement insisting that “Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone. We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”

Text messages between the victim and Jonathan Majors were released by Chaudhry as part of the evidence proving his innocence.

“I told them it was my fault for trying to grab your phone,” the woman allegedly sent, adding that she informed the police that “this was not an attack.”

As reported by Variety, the woman also sent the following text message: “Please let me know you’re okay when you get this. They assured me that you won’t be charged. They said they had to arrest you as protocol when they saw the injuries on me and they knew we had a fight. I’m so angry that they did. And I’m sorry you’re in this position. Will make sure nothing happens about this. … I love you.”

After a few hours, the woman allegedly sent another message saying, “I know you have the best team and there’s nothing to worry about I just want you to know that I’m doing all I can my end. I also said to tell the judge to know the origin of the [911] call was to do with me collapsing and passing out and your worry as my partner due to our communication prior.”

However, the plan to prove Majors’ innocence with these messages seem to have backfired.

“It read like a bad Lifetime movie,” one person, who is working with Majors on an upcoming project, told Variety. “They basically look like the text messages of a textbook abused woman.”

A Career in Shambles

Majors recently starred as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed III. He’s also set to star in a slew of projects, which have been dropped since he was arrested amid domestic violence allegations.

One of these dropped projects is The Man in My Basement, an adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel, which also stars Willem Dafoe. Producers are apparently already looking for his replacement.

Despite not signing on officially for the Otis Redding biopic, Majors is no longer being considered for the role, according to Deadline.

In the same Deadline article, Dallas native Jonathan Majors has reportedly filmed an advertising campaign for the Major League Baseball team Texas Rangers, but it will no longer be aired.

Deadline also reported that Majors will no longer be in attendance at this year’s Met Gala as a guest of Valentino.

Aside from projects, Jonathan Majors has also been reportedly dropped by his talent manager at Management 360 “due to issues of the actors’ personal behavior.”

Even his publicist at The Lede Company has decided to put Majors on a “break,” according to Deadline.

However, Just Jared reported that “Marvel is not currently looking to drop” Majors, who is not scheduled to film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for “quite some time.”

According to Deadline, “Majors remains with the MCU cast as their main villain in future phases, Kang the Conqueror, a character which appears in Disney+’s Loki season 2, and is slotted to star in 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and 2026’s Avengers: Secret Wars.”

Deadline also reported that Majors is still attached to the Spike Lee film Da Understudy for Amazon Studios and the upcoming Dennis Rodman project 48 Hours in Vegas for Lionsgate.

“I think the truth is everyone is waiting to see what Marvel will do,” an industry insider, who is familiar with the situation, told Variety. “It doesn’t mean everyone will do the same thing, but that’s what people are looking to.”
