Before dazzling on the red carpet in shimmering Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” sandals, Julianne Hough once cast a spell on audiences as a young Gryffindor extra in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Years later, the actress-dancer has transformed from Hogwarts pupil to Hollywood style star — but even the most polished celebs have off nights.

At the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York, Julianne looked radiant in a glittering Michael Kors gown paired with her beloved Stuart Weitzman heels. Still, her stylist made one tiny but unforgettable misstep: the price tags on those iconic “Nudist” sandals were left visible underfoot — a reminder that even seasoned fashion pros can miss the most minor details.

From Hogwarts to Hollywood: Julianne Hough’s Harry Potter Beginnings

Fifteen years earlier, the dancer-turned-actress had an uncredited role as a Gryffindor student in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. She was just 11 years old and living in London under the care of her champion instructors, Corky and Shirley Ballas. Her brother, Derek Hough, also appeared in Philosopher’s Stone.

“We would always get in trouble,” Derek told People about his experience on the Harry Potter set. “I was in Ravenclaw — I stole the robe, the tie, the scarf, and I stole cutlery from the Great Hall! I was like, ‘I’m taking this!’ It was a big no-no; it was a big thing. And I was like, ‘I’m taking a chance.’ It was funny because we knew those movies were gonna be such a big deal.”

Life in London: Dance Dreams and Early Roles

Released in November 2001, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone featured a young Julianne Hough, who was about 12 during filming. She’d just celebrated her 12th birthday that July while living in London.

“I lived in London,” Hough explained on LIVE! With Kelly in June 2012. “I went to school there.”

“I was in Gryffindor,” Hough recalled. “I even stole the scarf just to make sure that I had proof that I was Gryffindor, and then they searched my bag and took it back.”

“I was kind of in love, especially with Daniel Radcliffe. I wrote him a love note,” she admitted. “It was Valentine’s Day and I got him the Valentino Beanie Baby. I never heard back.”

At the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards, Julianne started with yet another clear red carpet style winner in a sheer, fully-embellished Michael Kors creation dressed up with earrings from Borgioni and a ring from Hearts on Fire.

Julianne’s Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” sandals — while timeless and chic — still had tags on the bottom.

Sad as it is that such a rookie styling mistake occurred, we still have to hand it to Julianne — our girl looked gorgeous.

The Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” sandals are no longer available in silver foil, but they are still available in other colors at Zappos. Don’t forget to remove the tags, ladies.

Even with her small styling slip at the CFDA Fashion Awards, Julianne Hough’s choice of Stuart Weitzman heels put her in stylish company. The “Nudist” sandal remains one of Hollywood’s most enduring red-carpet staples, beloved for its minimalist elegance and leg-lengthening effect.
