Kate Middleton’s wardrobe often balances statement evening dressing with practical, repeatable footwear choices.

Two appearances separated by nearly eight years illustrate that approach particularly well: a shimmering pink gown worn at a reception held at Cahal Pech in Belize in March 2022 and a polished maternity look showcased during a visit to Harlem in New York City in December 2014.

Although the silhouettes differed dramatically, both outfits highlighted pieces Catherine has repeatedly returned to over the years, from metallic Jimmy Choo sandals to her long-favored Episode pumps. They also reflect her preference for supporting British and Commonwealth brands alongside established luxury labels.

On March 21, 2022, Catherine attended a reception hosted by Governor General Froyla Tzalam at the Mayan archaeological site of Cahal Pech in Belize during the royal couple’s Caribbean tour celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

For the evening event, she wore a custom metallic pink interpretation of The Vampire’s Wife’s “Light Sleeper” silhouette.

The floor-length design featured shimmering lamé sequins woven with metallic threads, a darted bodice, a softly defined waist, flutter sleeves, and a boat neckline that created movement under the evening lights.

The look was complemented by circular drop earrings from O’nitaa and a white embroidered clutch from Belizean label Xe’il Belize featuring a Mayan-inspired motif.

Although mostly concealed beneath the sweeping hemline, Catherine completed the ensemble with silver-toned Jimmy Choo “Mimi” 100 sandals.

The metallic design features slender straps, an intertwined ankle fastening, and a 100 mm stiletto heel. Kate previously wore the same sandals during her 2019 visit to Pakistan, underscoring her habit of revisiting trusted evening footwear.

The appearance generated significant interest in ruffled evening dresses and The Vampire’s Wife, whose signature feminine silhouettes became closely associated with Catherine’s formal wardrobe. The brand ultimately ceased operations in 2024, making this gown one of its most memorable royal commissions.

Kate Middleton Relied on Episode “Angel” Pumps During Her 2014 New York Visit

Eight years earlier, Catherine showcased a more understated approach to dressing while visiting the Harlem Child Development Center in New York City on December 8, 2014. At the time, she was expecting Princess Charlotte and favored structured outerwear paired with familiar footwear.

She selected Goat Fashion’s heavy “Washington” wool-crepe coat, styled with Cornelia James “Imogen” merino-wool gloves and a Stuart Weitzman “Bestbowraz” clutch.

Her footwear choice reflected another recurring theme within her wardrobe. Catherine wore black suede “Angel” pumps by Episode, a House of Fraser exclusive known for its almond toe, concealed platform, and wearable proportions.

The style recurred throughout the early years of her public life, including around the time of her engagement announcement, demonstrating her preference for dependable shoes that could transition easily between formal engagements and daytime events.

Other appearances documented on Your Next Shoes—including her Max Mara wrap dress ensemble, her Goat coat and Peter Pan-collar look, and her Topshop polka-dot dress —show how frequently she returned to the Episode pumps during the early years of her public life.
