At the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France, on May 19, 2016, Katy Perry embraced one of the evening’s most dramatic red-carpet looks in a floral-embroidered gown from the Marchesa Fall 2016 collection.

The gown came from Marchesa’s Fall 2016 collection, a runway inspired by the work of portrait painter John Singer Sargent.

Crafted from ombré Chantilly lace, the off-the-shoulder design was covered in sculpted floral appliqués and petal embroidery that appeared to bloom across the sleeves and fishtail skirt.

Fitted through the body before flaring into a short train, the silhouette balanced romantic detail with red-carpet drama, making it one of the collection’s most memorable designs.

While the Marchesa gown delivered most of the visual impact, Perry’s styling was notably restrained. Harry Winston diamond jewelry, a sleek chignon, and a matching red lip complemented the dramatic design without competing with its intricate embroidery and three-dimensional floral details.

The styling echoed the gown’s Old Hollywood glamour, while the clean lines of her accessories kept the focus on Marchesa’s craftsmanship.

Beneath the embroidered hem, Perry completed the look with Giuseppe Zanotti’s “Betty” sandals, a streamlined platform style that added height without distracting from the elaborate gown.

A favorite on red carpets during the 2010s, Giuseppe Zanotti’s “Betty” sandals featured a slim ankle strap, towering stiletto heel, and supportive front platform.

The minimalist silhouette provided a deliberate contrast to the gown’s abundance of lace, petals, and texture, creating a balanced head-to-toe look.
