No, she did not get a boob job for CHiPs. In the movie, which features Shepard as the star and director, Bell plays a supporting role as his shallow and estranged ex-wife.
Bell, who was 36 years old at the time, wanted her character to embody the stereotypical L.A. persona, complete with an exaggerated breast augmentation.
To achieve this desired appearance, the actress, who was breastfeeding at the time, decided not to pump milk for 24 hours. With a playful sense of humor, Bell jokingly informed her children that “the food truck is closed.”
While filming a revealing scene, Shepard suggested to Bell that she zip up her bathing suit a bit, as he felt her cleavage was drawing attention away from the dialogue.

“I was like, listen, if there’s one time in my life I’m going to have big, nice boobs, it’s when I’m breastfeeding — why not use ‘em while you got ‘em!”
“If Christian Bale can lose 250 pounds for a movie, I can keep from breastfeeding for 24 hours, I literally did not pump for a full day,” Kristen revealed about making her cleavage look bigger in the film.
“I told the kids to find some other food, Daddy’s making a movie. It doesn’t feel great, let me tell you. But I was happy to have a little extra to provide for the transformation.”
Co-star Michael Peña and Kristen’s friend and “Veronica Mars” alumnus Ryan Hansen also attended the premiere.

Filmed in late 2015, nearly a year after Bell’s second child was born and while still breastfeeding, she intentionally stopped pumping for a day to film a scene where she wore a zip-up swimsuit, resulting in engorged breasts.
Shepard clarified that he wasn’t controlling Bell’s appearance in the movie and left it up to her, as she had a vision of how her character, the trophy wife of Jon Baker during his motocross days, would look, which included large breasts and hair extensions.
“I was not micromanaging Kristen’s look in the movie,” Shepard told E! News. “I kind of leave that up to her. She had a whole idea of what kind of trophy wife Jon Baker would have had when he was a motocross star and so that included really big boobs and hair extensions.”

“When I came out with a chest that size, he said, ‘It looks great, but you need to zip the bathing suit up a little bit,'” Bell added.
“And I was like, ‘Honey, I get these one time. I want a lot of cleavage. I want this to look aggressive.’ …it was the one disagreement we had on set.”
