With an estimated net worth of $6 million, YouTube star Liza Koshy graced the 2020 Grammy red carpet looking like a million dollars.

The 23-year-old YouTuber showed off her wild side in a $5,385-dress from Pamella Roland’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection. It’s intricately embellished with white sequins and black crystals, done in zebra stripes.

The sexy dress also showed a glimpse of her flesh as it features see-through-cutout details with mesh inserts, a décolletage-baring plunging V-neck, and a fringed hem.

She paired her zebra-patterned mini dress with $8,833-drop earrings by Colette and a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Miria’ sandals, which cost $1,095 at Farfetch. Her look was crafted by stylist Jason Rembert.

Is Liza Koshy Indian?

Elizabeth Shaila Koshy, or best known as Liza Koshy, was born in Houston, Texas to a mother of German descent and an Indian father. Her dad, Jose, is a petroleum executive, while her mom, Jean Carol, is a yoga instructor. The half-Indian, half-Caucasian beauty is the youngest of three siblings.

She graduated from Lamar High School, where she became captain of her dance team. She later studied business marketing at the University of Houston in 2014. After only three months, she dropped out of college and move to Los Angeles to pursue her career.

How did Liza Koshy become a YouTube star?

Liza originally started publishing comic videos on Vine in 2013 while she was still in high school. Before the short-form video platform closed down in 2017, she had gathered 7 million followers.

In 2015, she began her YouTube Channel and gained 6 million subscribers within just a year. She amassed another 6 million subscribers in 2017, making her the fastest person to ever reach 10 million subscribers.

In 2016, before the election, Koshy had an interview with then-president Barack Obama at the White House to encourage voter registration.

According to SocialBlade, she’s currently the 72nd most subscribed channel in the United States with 17.8 million. Her channel has generated more than 2.38 billion views as of today.

She has also created a second YouTube channel, Liza Koshy Too, where she posts more spontaneous, non-scripted videos. This lesser-known channel currently has nearly 8 million subscribers and over 600 million views.

Liza has created her own YouTube Original Series, Liza on Demand, which is now in its second season.

How much does Liza make on YouTube?

According to Youtubesociety, Liza is earning between $3 and $10 per 1000 views of her videos. Her main YouTube channel is getting around 33 million views per month, which amounts to approximately $130,000 a month or $1.5 million a year in ad revenue.

Her second YouTube Channel has about 6 million views per month, which makes around $23,000 a month or $260,000 a year.

Liza Koshy’s acting career

Aside from making money on YouTube, Liza has also ventured into script acting. She made her acting debut in the Hulu Original Series Freakish in 2016 and reprised her role as Violet Adams in the show’s second season in 2017.

She also starred as Aday Walker in the 2016 horror-comedy film Boo! A Madea Halloween and as Princess Aubrey in the comedy movie FML.

In 2017, she played a recurring role in the YouTube Premium mystery-reality series, Escape the Night.

In 2018, she hosted and executive-produced the reboot of the classic ‘80s and ‘90s TV game show Double Dare. The show premiered on its original network, Nickelodeon, in June 2018 and ended in December 2019.

This year, she will appear in the coming-of-age dance comedy Work It alongside Sabrina Carpenter. Alicia Keys is one of the producers of the film, which is set to be released this summer.

Liza Koshy’s other ventures

In 2017, Liza led a series of advertisements for Apple’s Beats headphones. The digital ads reportedly received four times more viewers than those of other celebrities.

That same year, she also partnered with The Giving Keys for a collection. The Giving Keys, founded by actress Caitlin Crosby, is a jewelry company that works to repurpose old and new keys into modern jewelry and accessories. They also employ residents who are transitioning out of homelessness.

In 2016, Liza was named Breakout Creator by Streamys, which recognizes and honors excellence in online video. She also won Best Comedy Web Series in 2017 and 2018 for Liza on Demand, and Best Acting in Comedy in 2018.

Teen Choice Awards also named Liza Choice Female Web Star in 2017 and 2018, and Choice Comedy WebStar and Choice YouTuber in 2018.
